2014 National Rising Star Announced
Ellyn Taylor of Avalon Beach House Preschool, Avalon in New South Wales has been named this year's National Rising Star winner in the 2014 Australian Family Early Education and Care Awards.
Ellyn has responsibility for the 4-5 year olds at Avalon Beach House Preschool and according to judging chairman and Australian Family Managing Director Paul Clancy she shines in all aspects of her career with her knowledgeable understanding of best practice in preparing children for school.
"I would like to congratulate Ellyn on being selected as this year's National Rising Star along with all the nominees in this category. Ellyn's mature disposition and focused approached to the children in her care along with her strong and caring relationships with parents certainly impressed the judging panel," said Mr Clancy.
The Australian Family Early Education and Care awards, now in its tenth year, recognises the excellent work being done by early education and care professionals and nominations are received from managers, families, colleagues and friends.
In addition to Paul Clancy this year's judging panel was made up of National Manager, Early Childhood Education, McArthur Bernadette Dunn, long standing member of the Occasional Child Care Association Mary A. Cottee, CEO of Meerilinga Young Children's Foundation Lesley Moreschi, CEO of Coastwide Child and Family Services Kellie McNamara and Dr Sarah Ohi a Lecturer at the School of Education, Deakin University.
As the national winner of the Rising Star category, Ellyn has won a $5,000 training grant from One World for Children, $5,000 professional development grant from McArthur and $1,000 of educational resources from Educational Experience.
In addition to the Rising Star Award, state winners have also been announced and the national winners of Early Childhood Director of the Year, Early Childhood Educator of the Year and Early Childhood Service of the Year will be announced at the Australian Family Early Education and Care Awards 10th Anniversary Gala Celebration on Friday June 20.
All the winners will share in over $75,000 in prizes including $40,000 in training and professional development grants.
