More than half of Australia's education and care services have received a quality rating according to the latest NQF snapshot.
The snapshot shows that the number of services with a quality rating has increased by 69 per cent over the last 12 months.
ACECQA Board Chair Rachel Hunter said with 52 per cent of services assessed and rated more families could access information about the quality of early childhood services in their area.
"The NQF has set a higher benchmark for services and provides children with the best start in life," said Ms Hunter.
Ms Hunter said the NQF is proving to be effective and that it is driving continuous improvement.
"The proportion of assessed services meeting or exceeding the NQS has risen from 59 per cent to 65 per cent," she said.
Highlights from the Snapshot include:
- 14 577 children's education and care services operating under the NQF across Australia.
- 7637 or 52 per cent of services have received a quality rating
- 65 per cent of services are exceeding or meeting NQS.
Ratings for the 7637 services which have already received their quality rating are available in the national registers.
