Everyday Mum in Profile Ere Perez C4K: Describe your general day to day life / schedule EP: At 7 months pregnant, my toddler wakes me up at 7am, we have breakfast together and play a little with some music while we get ready to leave home at 8:30. We walk to a nearby café in Tamarama and spend 15 minutes just chilling out as a family on our way to Kindy, which is a lovely way to start the day. About 9am Maura we drop her at child care and start working. It's very convenient as her Kindy is just around the corner from our office. I pick her up at about 4.30 and usually take her to the playground for 20 minutes or so on the way home. We eat together then she has a bath and I put her in bed at 7, and when my husband comes home at 7:30 he has dinner we talk, watch a little tele and finish a few emails, I go to bed at 10 and usually read something. C4K: So how did you come up with Ere Perez Natural Cosmetics? EP: I come from a family background of natural medicine and bio chemistry and always loved playing around with different things to make makeup and skincare. I trained in natural therapies and I guess like most people I wanted to find a way to have more freedom to earn an income on less time! I like to be the master of my own destiny and eventually came up with an idea for my own product range. I love natural products and decided to start with a simple black Mascara for eyelashes that took me in a long journey that today is a whole range of beautiful natural makeup which we sell all over Australia and internationally. C4K: When did you go back to work after having your children? EP: I never stopped! Technology makes it easier!! I just worked a few hours a day until Maura was one and I learned to delegate, prioritise my time and forget about the things that aren't important anymore. C4K: What were your main motivations to return to work and what was the hardest thing about it? EP: I Love my work, and if you do what you love you never work a day of your life!! My motivation was just to keep going and it wasn't hard. I knew I was doing my best and just following my instincts, plus I made sure Maura was happy at Kindy so I was happy and she just went 3 days a week which was enough. C4K: What sort of child care does Maura go to? EP: She goes to the Kindamindi Childcare Centre in Tamarama, which is perfect for us. I spent a good half an hour there on several days at the beginning, so that I made friends with the staff and the other kids and that way Maura felt that they where a family too. I'm very big on instinct and feeling about people and just looking into people's eyes really helps you tell when they are lovely people and really care for the children. C4K: What are the main benefits of your child care arrangement? EP: They are extremely close by to our house and our work which is a huge bonus. They are very lovely and flexible too and they provide food! C4K: How did your child care centre help you and Maura adapt to the new regime? EP: They were very supportive with her at the beginning when she didn't want to stay. They made sure she said goodbye to me properly and they always held her with real affection and gave her kisses. In no time she loved her new carers like they were her own family and after that we didn't have any issues at all. They make all the children feel special and she particularly loves the little group session with her friends where they all take along their favourite toy.
