10 cool Christmas craft ideas

Even the most unenthusiastic crafters can usually be convinced to get involved when it comes to Christmas projects. These 10 ideas include something fun for everyone and we like them because they use simple, cheap materials and are relatively mess free.
Drinking straw Christmas trees Use red and green straws to great effect in this project. The final product would look great on a greeting card.
Painted pinecone Christmas trees You'll need a couple of bags of plump pinecones for this activity which encourages the development of fine motor skills and creativity.
Christmas baubles A simple circular template and loads of bright and colourful bling are all you need to make a bunch of baubles which can be sent home or used to decorate the tree in your service.
Christmas wind spirals This project uses simple supplies and is relatively mess free.
Christmas lanterns Use brightly coloured contrasting paper to create a flotilla of pretty lanterns which will look lovely strung around your service during the Christmas concert.
Handprint Rudolph Ideal for pre-schoolers this activity uses paper plates as the basis for an adorable red-nosed Rudolph.
Snow globes Make your Christmas white with these easy DIY snow globes.
Angel sun catchers The long sunny days of Christmas in Australia make this a very appropriate activity. The basic idea can be used to create a variety of different sun catchers.
Shape wreaths Primary colours and geometric shapes make this a great activity for encouraging STEM skills in young children.
Cotton ball Santa Cotton wool and glue… what could go wrong?! This easy activity results in a jolly Santa which children can tailor to their heart’s content.
Thanks to readingconfetti.com, activityvillage.co.uk, education.com, and notimeforflashcards.com for these awesome craft ideas. |

This is our final issue for 2017 and after another busy and rewarding year we’d like to take this opportunity to say a sincere thank you for your continued support and encouragement over the last 12 months. We couldn’t have done it without you.
In response to suggestions by our industry partners, and in the face of a changing child care market, we have worked hard this year to grow and strengthen our suite of products and services to better meet the needs of our community of early childhood education and care providers.
This includes features such as:
- Special offer and invitation ribbons which enable you to showcase your events and invite parents
- A new banner ad tool enabling services to stand out from the crowd
- Enhanced request a Tour/Interview, offering improved access to providers by parents
- Up-to-date ACECQA rating information
- More precise Vacancy Alert locations to narrow down parent referrals and grow occupancy rates
- An improved ChildcareJobs.com.au providing access to an up-to-date talent pipeline in the early childhood sector
We are proud to report that these initiatives seem to be working, and 2017 saw a record number of providers join CareforKids.com.au, a huge surge in corporate clients and continued traffic to our website.
More importantly, we continued to be successful in our mission of making it quicker and easier for Australian families to find high quality child care when and where they need it.
From all of us here at CareforKids.com.au, we wish you a happy and peaceful holiday season and look forward to working with you in 2018.
