According to Mindful.org, mindfulness is the ability to be fully present, aware of where you are, what you are doing and not overwhelmed by what’s going on around you. It’s a matter of drawing your attention in on the here and now and then pausing to reflect on and notice the present moment.
Regular mindfulness practice has been promoted as a way to reduce stress and anxiety and to improve mental health and wellbeing and it is gaining traction in both the corporate and medical world. In addition, a recent article on Kidsmatter.edu.au highlights some of the special benefits of mindfulness training for children.
