The government recently announced it would expand funding for the Early Learning Languages Program (ELLA) into a larger number of early learning settings and primary schools to make it possible for more young children to experience a second language.
In announcing the additional funding, Minister for Education and Training Simon Birmingham, said more than 80,000 children in 2500 preschools across Australia have already been introduced to a second language via ELLA and they are expanding the program.

Vaccinations for early childhood staff
Early childhood educators are at increased risk of contracting a range of vaccine preventable diseases through their regular and ongoing contact with children. There is also a chance staff can pass on communicable diseases to children who are either too young to have had all their injections or who can't be vaccinated for medical reasons.
To protect yourself and the children in your service it's important to keep your vaccinations up-to-date, and while this isn't compulsory for early childhood staff it's highly recommended.
