COVID-19 Support for Providers
|
The Australian Government has announced a range of measures to support parents and early childhood education and care providers affected by the outbreak of COVID-19.
The Federal Minister for Education Dan Tehan says the measures have been introduced to ensure services remain viable and can pay staff in the case of forced closures.
The situation as it currently stands means early childhood education and care services are open, except where individual services have been directed to close by health authorities.

Small but powerful steps to build a sense of gratitude
|
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, gratitude is simply "the state of being grateful." Taking it further, psychology.com defines gratitude as, "a human emotion that can be most simply defined as appreciation or acknowledgment of an altruistic act."
Early childhood educators can use scaffolding to support a young child's emerging gratefulness, by helping children understand their own feelings and thoughts, as well as those of others.
Why is this important? Gratitude carries with it an abundance of positive outcomes in social-emotional learning – and it plays a critical role in happiness and health. So, laying early foundations for young children to develop and practice these skills is important.

What role does automation have in the early childhood sector?
|
AI (artificial intelligence), robots, automated decision-making – No, you haven't mistakenly wandered onto a banking website or a factory operation manual. These aren't concepts you'll only run into in technical industries and sci-fi conventions (or the YA section of the library).
They're being used in early childhood services around the world, and there may come a day when Australian providers follow suit.
