Calculating your child care costs made better
|
The CareforKids.com.au Child Care Subsidy Calculator has always been a useful tool for working out how much Child Care Subsidy (CCS) you are entitled to.
Simply answer the questions related to:
- How much work or recognised activity you and your partner do each fortnight. For couples, entitlement is based on the partner doing the lower amount of activity.
- Your combined family income.
- The fees you pay for child care (hourly rate caps apply for each service type).
To get a good approximation of your out-of-pocket costs and better inform the overall cost of care.
In line with the government's decision to remove the annual subsidy cap from 10 December and increase the subsidy for families with more than one child in care from 7 March we've updated our CCS calculator.
This means you can now hop on to the calculator plug in your details and get an ever better idea of the cost of care… and the good news it is likely to be less if you fall into one of the categories above.
More affordable child care is great news for families and we hope this enhancement to our CCS Calculator supports you to plan and budget for child care from December and beyond!

6 reasons to find child care close to work
|
If you're lucky enough to live near a quality child care centre that has vacancies, then it's probably an easy decision to enrol your little one in this home away from home.
Don't worry if you haven't got a child care centre on your doorstep, though.
There are actually some very good reasons to choose a centre that's closer to work than home, so let's look at the upsides of an office-facing child care option.

The importance of self-care for mums
|
Us mums spend a lot of time looking after children, relationships, pets, homes and careers, and in amongst it all, we often forget to care for ourselves.
Life gets busy, and there are constant demands on our time and energy, but it is vital that we make space to focus on ourselves – for the good of our current and future wellbeing.
Someone who's learnt this from personal experience is Tanya Maree Biddle, a life coach and mum-of-three, who's found true happiness by learning to love herself, set boundaries, and approach child-raising and relationship-scaffolding in positive new ways.
Tanya helps women make great changes in their lives, and today, she's sharing some valuable advice with us.
