What if we told you, you could dress up like a pirate and raise funds for kids cancer research at the same time? Pirate Day is organised by the Kids Cancer Project and raises important funds to support research into childhood cancer.
Since 2015, Pirate Day has raised over $475,000 for kids' brain cancer research. The Kids' Cancer Project is setting sail on our Pirate Day on Friday 13 May 2022. But you can jump aboard yours any time in May that suits your crew.
This year the funds go towards supporting Dr Dannielle Upton's important research into one of the deadliest childhood brain cancers. For children with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), the diagnosis is devastating. DIPG is inoperable and is considered incurable. Researcher Dr Dannielle Upton and her colleagues hope to change that.
Pirate Day is a great way to get children and families involved in dress-ups as well as contributing to funding and supporting the research on kids’ cancer. Just jump onto their website here, and register your service/centre or team to start raising funds.
You could get your whole team involved, and the young aspiring pirates as well! Dress up days, with fun outdoor play themes like treasure hunts and arts and crafts, are a great way to get pirates of all ages involved. What child doesn’t love pirates?
