Brrrrr… with the cooler months of winter well upon us, now is a great time to try a few new craft ideas.

This month we have selected eight simple winter themed craft ideas, which you can try at your service to encourage discussion around seasonality.

Icicle bunting Turn your room into a winter wonderland with the help of this shivery cold icicle bunting! Children will enjoy splodging on the runny paint and watching the colours merge.

Paper snowflakes An oldie but a goodie and excellent for developing fine motor skills. If you don't have tissue paper on hand substitute for a thicker grade of paper.

Snow people Use a simple outline to create a chain of plump snow people which can be decorated any which way.

Snow paint Mix up a batch of creamy, textured snow paint and create all sorts of wondrous wintery pictures.

Paper plate penguin Quick and easy and lots of fun, this is a good activity for younger children.

Tissue paper snowflakes Squeeze bright watercolour paints onto tissue paper to great effect in this interesting activity.

Winter trees Create a forest of wintery trees to hang on the wall, use cotton buds or finger painting whichever is more fun.

Salt painting Salt is a wonderful textural ingredient to give paintings a 3D effect and makes for perfect snow!
