I attended a centre tour today, and unfortunately, left confused and very disappointed due to the rudeness and unprofessionalism I experienced. Generally on a centre tour, you're taken around the entire centre and every little thing is explained to you as you go, without prompting. The tour also starts with a bit of a Q&A where you tell the staff member about yourself and your child, so they can ensure they touch on your priorities. When I arrived at the centre I was immediately taken to the room they said my child would be in, no Q&A or introduction, and then the staff member stood there in complete silence, not looking in my direction, for over a minute until I asked a question, which was responded to in as minimal words as possible. After which, we went back to complete silence. I attempted to ask a few more questions but her minimal responses and lack of unsolicited communication was so incredibly awkward that I asked to move on to see the next room. Moving into the next room, she proceeded to completely ignore me for minutes as she cuddled, kissed, danced and spoke to her own child. While this was going on, another educator came over to talk to her about her child's nap and also ignored me. To be clear, I have no problem with her saying hello and picking up her child but it was so bizarre to be blanked in this way by two staff members while on a centre tour. As it appeared she wasn't interested in resuming the tour, I said I'd let myself out and walked out of the room. No follow up, no questions asked, no more information given. Overall, this experience has left such a bad impression with not only this centre but the Embracia company. I also wonder if this staff member is actively trying to discourage new joins because there's something wrong or if it's simply an issue of lack of staff training. Read more
