Story House Early Learning Windsor Centre overview
Welcome to Story House Early Learning Windsor.
At Story House Early Learning Windsor our long-term and dedicated educators implement programs for children 6 weeks to 5 years that reflect the outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and the Reggio Emilia approach to learning, with emphasis on the outcomes of children as a guide to the overall program planning.
We identify children’s voices and interests as the basis for our program and allow opportunities for children to contribute to the daily functioning of the room such as flexible routines, indoor-outdoor programs and child-initiated experiences. Alongside this our educators’ intentional teaching is guided by the children’s interests identified through observation ensures that the child’s interest is the forefront of the plan alongside their developmental needs.
Our educators have taken to making our learning transparent for families. This is not only limited to the programs run within the classrooms, but also extends to the outdoor environments which incorporate intentionally placed resources and learning experiences readily available for children to participate in based on previous observation and extension processes.
Conveniently located 2 mins from the RBWH and 7 mins to Roma St and Brisbane City via the Inner-City Bypass, we are open 6.30am-6.30pm. Programs
To create a sense of familiarity and security for the children, the educators follow a predictable daily routine across the centre. This then allows the children to explore and enjoy their day while feeling safe in their surroundings.
The educators make the most of the facilities to include a mix of both indoor and outdoor learning activities. They consider each child’s individual learning styles and needs to ensure that every child has the support and opportunities they need to thrive.
The children can participate in swimming lessons and cooking activities. They can also attend excursions and often welcome community visitors into the centre for incursions. Nature play is encouraged to teach the children about sustainability and caring for the environment.
The school readiness program supports the transition to big school, helping to prepare these children for life beyond Story House Early Learning.
Meet the team

Meet the team
The centre takes a thoughtful approach to finding and hiring the right educators. They look for educators who are qualified, experienced and familiar with using evidence-based practices to create engaging learning activities.
Story House Early Learning has a high employee retention rate thanks to the positive working environment. This also provides the children with a stronger sense of familiarity and security as they get to know the people caring for them each day.

Parent communication and involvement

Parent communication and involvement
The educators at Story House Early Learning use the StoryPark platform to communicate with parents. They share photos and stories on this secure platform to ensure parents can feel part of their child’s day.
The programs and curriculum at the centre are also tailored to the community and culture. The educators are respectful of your family, your culture and your story.
About the curriculum

About the curriculum
The educators work closely with families to provide a safe, quality, family-centred learning environment where every child is respected and nurtured. The team continually develops their skills and explores new ways to enrich each child’s early learning experience.
Indoor and outdoor play-based experiences are an integral part of the program. Educators plan a diverse range of experiences to create opportunities for each child in both structured and spontaneous play.
The centre’s programs are inspired by the wisdom and teachings of early childhood theorists and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and aim to develop children’s emotional, social, and cognitive intelligence.
The Kindergarten curriculum continues to emphasise play based learning, however offers additional intentional learning times where the focus is on literacy and numeracy, socialisation, self-regulation and independence.

If your kid has additional needs, Avoid sending them to this centre. For medical reasons, my son needs apple juice. There’s been many of problems. He dribbles a lot and because of that he has a rash on his chest from them, not changing his shirt enough. He has specialised shoes to support his ankles and orthotics in his shoes On One of the occasions he got a splinter in his foot when his shoes weren’t even meant to be off. What did it for me is picking him up to see both his bottles on the trolley with his Apple juice had gone bad I went to look for his big bottle of apple juice in the fridge then Was told it was on the shelf when I looked at it it was nearly ready to explode I had emails with the centre manager which I felt were very rude she contradicted herself in the email so many times one of the emails stated that the 2 L apple juice had only been opened on the Monday. My son doesn’t drink 2 L of apple juice in not even two days of being there. Not only that she said that it was safe to leave the apple juice out of the fridge for 3 to 4 hours I contacted Woolworths and that is not the case. Then she went to say that my son wouldn’t be able to have what he medically requires to keep him hydrated if that’s the case. When he’s at home, I put lots of ice in his drink. I’ve never had a problem with him not drinking it for hours but if I did I would just tip it out and refill it when I felt it had gone warm. It’s common sense. No one has common sense at this centre. Might I add that I have pulled my son out he will not be Returning I now have to wait two weeks before I can get him into another daycare because they aren’t negotiable on the two weeks policy unlike What the daycare we were at before did for us. We were able to enroll in story house pretty much straightaway, but they won’t do the same thing back. You would think that they would try everything possible to help when their staff are neglecting your kid but they don’t please, please avoid this centre Read more
Thank you, Sonia, for your review. At Story House, the health, safety, and wellbeing of every child in our care remain our highest priority. We are committed to working collaboratively with families and professionals to ensure that children receive the best possible care and education tailored to their needs. Regarding our two-week notice policy for ending care, this requirement is clearly outlined in the parent handbook provided upon enrolment and is an industry-wide practice to avoid any issues with fees or Child Care Subsidy (CCS) eligibility. We strive to maintain transparency with all families about our policies and procedures to ensure a smooth experience for everyone. We appreciate your time with us and wish you and your family all the best moving forward.

It’s difficult to write a negative review for Storyhouse, especially after my daughter spent 2.5 years there and genuinely loved attending. However, as a parent, I believe nothing is more important than the safety of our children, and unfortunately, this is where the centre falls short. Over the course of six months, I raised concerns twice about the front door remaining open and the key code not being updated—a code that hadn’t been changed during my daughter’s entire 2.5-year attendance. These requests were ignored. Despite being reassured by the operations manager in October that the code would be updated, it still remains unchanged three months later. What I find to be unsettling is the centre’s apparent lack of urgency regarding these safety measures. An open front door allows anyone to enter the facility unchecked—a significant risk, especially with a private mental health facility directly across the road. To add to this, a parent’s car was stolen from the car park during drop-off. I also feel it’s important to highlight that many of the five-star reviews for this centre were incentivised through prize raffles, which I believe skews the perception of the centre’s actual quality. Since moving to another childcare centre, the difference has been staggering. The level of care, communication, and overall happiness of the educators at the new facility is worlds apart. It’s a reminder that trusting your instincts as a parent is essential. While it was heartbreaking to pull my daughter away from her friends and the relationships she had built, I’m confident it was the right decision. If something doesn’t feel right, trust your gut—it’s always worth prioritising your child’s safety and wellbeing. Read more
Thank you for your review, Shannon. We deeply value feedback from our families, as it helps us continuously improve and provide the best possible care. Please know that we took your feedback very seriously when you raised this with Senior Leaders on 2nd October 2024 and as discussed with you at the time, with the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority. The health, safety, and wellbeing of the children in our care, as well as our staff, remain our highest priority. We are disappointed we didn’t meet your expectations but hope that in the last 3 months since being at the service, that your child has settled in their new service.
