Mikarie Child Care Centre

The team at Mikarie Child Care Centre work in an environment where they are respected and appreciated for the knowledge and skills they possess. Highly qualified and experienced, the educators engage in regular professional development to ensure they are across the latest developments in the early childhood sector.

As the centre caters for children with high support needs, the educators are also qualified in suction training, PEG feeding, seizure management, diabetes management and key word signing. They are also trained in first aid, including CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis. 

The centre has high educator to child ratios. Where a child’s needs dictate support above the room ratio, this is assessed on a case-by-case basis, considering the safety of the child and their learning requirements.

Mikarie Child Care Centre is committed to helping families feel connected to their child's learning environment. Families are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s time at the centre and are provided with ample ways to do so. 

The educators communicate with parents in many ways. They are available for meetings, emails and phone calls. They also use StoryPark, a secure online platform, to keep parents informed about their child’s activities, goals and achievements. 

Through StoryPark, families can see their child’s daily programs, activities and other information such as their toileting, eating and drinking. Parents can also share feedback via StoryPark easily communicate with their child’s educators.

The parent/educator relationships are based on an understanding of the unique cultural backgrounds and values of the families. They respect the role of the parents and encourage their input into the curriculum and programs.
