Mother Duck Child Care & Preschool Wynnum Centre overview
Welcome to Mother Duck Child Care Wynnum
Our modern child care centre in Wynnum offers a natural environment and home-like atmosphere that provides a sense of belonging to children and their families. Our centre operates using the primary caregiving system for children aged 6 weeks to 3 years, to allow each child and family to form strong stable relationships with their child’s primary caregiver. The approach is supported by early childhood research and based on child development and attachment theory. On enrolment, families are given information to support a smooth and positive transition from home to care.
We know that the first five years shape your child’s development and learning for life. That’s why our daily programs are thoughtfully designed for intellectual, emotional, social and physical wellbeing and development. Curiosity, creativity and exploration are encouraged in a safe and supportive environment.
This strong foundation helps foster a lifelong love of learning.
Room to run, climb and play
Our two outdoor play areas in our Wynnum child care centre are spacious and grassy, with lots of shade from beautiful trees. Sandpits and climbing frames invite children to explore, climb and run. Younger children can venture confidently in their own separate play area.

What the parents say
What the parents say
Mother Duck Wynnum has been part of our lives for over 6 years as our two older boys attended from the week they opened and our third is currently attending. The outdoor space is full of adventure with open spaces to run and small spaces to explore. The team of educators are welcoming and always there to support our little one settling in and always give us feedback about the day when we pick up. We cannot thank Mother Duck Wynnum enough for all their love, care and support they put into helping our children prepare for life.
The Crossan Family
We are incredibly proud of the way in which our boys have thrived at Mother Duck Wynnum. The educator’s guidance and support of our boys and of us as a family is second to none and we are truly grateful for the dedication of the entire team at such a critical stage of our children's development. They should be incredibly proud of the thought, heart and passion they commit each and every day.
Kate & Gerard - Parents

About the curriculum
About the curriculum
In the infant studio, the educators follow a flexible schedule that is responsive to the needs of the individual child. Parents are encouraged to share their home routine with the educators, as they understand how important routine can be to children of this age.
Educators work to form a secure attachment with the children, as well as building relationships with the families. Parents receive a daily log from the educators which covers their child’s feeding, sleeping and toileting patterns.
The focus for the children is on those basic first skills such as sitting, crawling and walking. Educators seek to develop language skills of the children with conversation, singing and reading.
Children in the Juniors studio are developing their skills in confidence and independence, within a safe and secure environment. A consistent routine and familiar educators build a sense of security, so your child can confidently engage in learning. Socialisation will be gently encouraged and guided to help friendships and empathy form.
Your child’s growing independence is supported by caring educators who will help them take the first steps in toilet training. Educators will communicate openly with parents through conversation, as well as a daily record of your child’s eating, sleeping and toileting.
The play-based educational program is tailored to each child’s learning needs and interests. Emerging intellectual, social, emotional, physical and language skills are built on and extended.
The state government funded kindergarten is led by university qualified teachers, with a focus on building the children’s capacity for responsibility and accountability for their own learning. With the longer hours of a child care centre, the kindergarten children have an extended opportunity to access the curriculum, giving the children scope to work on long term projects of inquiry in order to empower them as 21st century thinkers and communicators.
The key for the children is to prepare them for the transition to formal education. The children make their learning visible through words, drawing, numbers, dance, painting, clay, music, movement, loose parts, transformative play and more.

Mother Duck Wynnum has a history of retaining their long term, highly qualified educators. Some of the educators have more than 10 years’ experience with working in early childhood and others have 20 years’ experience working for Mother Duck.
As the Centre Franchisee I have the luckiest job in the world - being able to provide children with a learning environment to explore, investigate and grow within, all while providing parents with a place that they feel safe and secure to leave their children. I am so proud of the Mother Duck Wynnum Community that we have created.
Miss Monique - Centre Franchisee, Mother Duck Wynnum
I love working with children. Being a part of those little light bulb moments, that children experience every day brings me so much joy. Mother Duck gives me a platform to use my skills and to learn new ones every day.
Miss Gemma - Educator
I love how rewarding it is to work alongside the Mother Duck Team and how knowledgeable they are. They enable me to think outside the box and better myself as an educator.

Mother Duck has amazing educators who are very engaging with parents and children. I know when I leave my little one that he is in a clean environment where he is having fun, making friends, learning, safe and being given the cuddles he needs while I am at work. I visited 8 different childcare centres before choosing Mother Duck, it’s the only one I wanted him to attend and it’s as good as I thought it would be! Thank you, team Mother Duck for looking after our little one. Read more
