I have had my three children attend 3 different Guardian Centres over the course of 8 years, and Everton stands out. Not only is it beautifully located, nestled amongst nature reserves, Hayley and her team are just outstanding and the quality of care my daughter has received has well exceeded my expectations. They tick every box I have as an ex-early childhood educator: Clean, well presented, stimulating and carefully presented spaces. Happy, smiling staff who are engaging with the children and acknowledging the families, quality program shared through gorgeous daily updates and photos, if a child is crying they are being attended to - truly, and a beautiful team that have made daycare a safe, extension of our family. My children have been at Guardian 3yrs 5mths and we left due to it's deterioration of staff, morale and safety. Staff turn over has... My children have been at Guardian 3yrs 5mths and we left due to it's deterioration of staff, morale and safety. Staff turn over has been impressive with 95% of original staff leaving in the last year. With this there are temp staff who come in, are seemingly insufficiently trained and consequently are not engaged with the children. Staff are constantly rotating to fill holes so there is minimal consistency for children. Of an afternoon almost all staff look as if they've been at war. Shattered and numb with the light extinguished from their eyes. To add to this all children are crammed into one room in the afternoons from 4pm (why you wouldn't leave them outside, weather permitting, to help regulate I do not know). In this enclosure of chaos there are children from 18mths to 5. A mixing pot of tears, frustration and fear, which results in biting, stroking, throwing of toy and tears. The staff are so overwhelmed they can only deal with the fall out, not incident mitigation. The icing of the cake was when, as an experiment, I sent my mother-in-law to go in and collect my 2yr old daughter. As usual, there was no one at the front desk, so she breezed in, spied my daughter (because children are in one big melting pot), went in and collected her. She was not spoken to by any members of staff. I genuinely am concerned for any parents with malicious partners, grandparents or family friends with ill intent. For all these reasons, and a few more, I pulled my children, primarily for their safety, as soon as I could. Read more
