Bachelor of Teaching - Early Childhood Teacher
I am the Owner/ Director of Appleseed Childcare since 2010, and have been mananging Childcare centres and working in the Early Childhood Industry for 21 years.
Our service provides a wonderful place for children to learn and grow, suppoprting children to develop their social and emotional skills, communication and language skills, independance and readiness for Kindergarten. I pride myself on managing a great team of educators who are dedicated to building quality relationships with families and providing a clean, safe and fun learning environment for all children. and Throughout these last 14 years in Epping we have built a
We look forward to showing you through our centre and building a great relationship with yourself and your child.
Appleseed Childcare is a place of fun, love, games, stories, songs, play and imagination – but behind all of our activities is a guiding program of Early Childhood Education and Development.
Our Early Childhood Educators are fully qualified, very experienced and extremely dedicated to their roles - many have been with Appleseed since it opened in 2010.
We truely value continuity of care and know how important consistency is in a young child's life - which is why we our team is only made of of all permanent part-time and full-time educators. We employee regular permanent float educators which enables us to refrain from using "casual" or "agency" educators. This means that your child will always know and be familiar with every educator in the service!
We are a small service - with only 49 children in attendance each day and our enrolled families stay with us from nursery to preschool. What this means is that your child isn't just a number or another face in the crowd! We are so proud of the tight-knit service we provide - with each educator knowing every child, regardless of room or age group, individually. For your child, it provides them an additional sense of belonging and security.
Our service highly values continued professional learning and development - we hold regular professional development training and a high number of our Educators are furthering their own individal studies.
We know that the early years of life are the most important for learning - with 90% of a child's brain development occuring in the first 5 years of a child's life. This time is when the foundations for future learning is laid.
Programs
Programs
Our play-based Educational Plans are designed to create a stimulating, flexible environment where children can explore their surroundings whilst they develop physically, emotionally and intellectually.
We provide a balance of indoor and outdoor activities that offer variety throughout the day. During indoor play, children have many experiences in learning areas with a variety of resources.
Project-based learning is a way for children to be involved in their own learning. We use different types of formats to gather and display children’s voices and their ideas about a topic including what they know and what they would like to learn. We then use this information to plan activities and learning spaces to provide the children with a range of learning experiences. Our projects are displayed on our walls, our online portal is updated regularly and each child has a portfolios containing all your child’s individual records.
Educational Plans (each with a goal) are displayed in each room and use the Early Years Learning Framework as a foundation for children’s learning. These plans are reguarly reflected on and evaluated to ensure children are progressing towards the planned goals and help to decide what will continue. Our plans incorporate children’s interests, intentional teaching, family events and cultural experiences.
Throughout the year we cover many important learning areas such as dental health, road safety, child protection etc. Special days and theme days are celebrated in the centre and each year we choose a charity organisation to which we raise money and donate goods.
Our aim is to prepare each child to their fullest potential in preparation for formal schooling.
Our preschool program is led by University qualified Early Childhood Teachers and fosters children’s development and school readiness through play experiences, spontaneous play and guided learning experiences.
Our high quality preschool program is aimed to ensure a smooth transition to formal schooling and our program is designed to assist children to:
- Feel secure and confident.
- Understand routines and practices within their own environment.
- Develop self-regulation.

- Have an understanding of pre literacy skills, reading/ recognising/ writing letters of the alaphabet, understanding the sounds of letters and, recognising and writing their name.

- Set high expectations for their own learning through play based and open ended projects.
- Face challenges in a positive way
- Refine and develop fine and gross motor skills.
- Be creative and direct their own learning.
- Explore and discover the world around them.
Centre philosophy
Centre philosophy
Our centre promotes a safe, loving environment where children feel secure and valued, and the rights of children are promoted and respected. We believe children are unique individuals and provide enriching, meaningful opportunities for them to explore and develop.
Through high-quality teaching and learning experiences, we promote independence, curiosity and exploration, where children are encouraged to learn as individuals. As early childhood professionals, we understand that children grow and develop at different ages/stages and support each child’s developmental abilities.
At Appleseed Childcare we promote social justice through activities that are without bias towards gender or culture. Our routines are flexible and a wide range of activities are planned to provide inclusion and support for children with additional needs or linguistic backgrounds.
Educators work together with specialists and families to support children with additional needs. We encourage children to show respect for the natural environment and also promote equality for children with different backgrounds and abilities.
Health and Nutrition

Our chef prepares a nutritious and delicious morning tea, hot lunch and afternoon tea. The meals are designed to give the kids the fuel they need for a big day of playing, learning and growing.
Children are encouraged to try new things but there is always a favourite to fall back on. Special dietary restrictions and requirements are, of course, acknowledged and catered for.
