Centre philosophy
Centre philosophy
The guiding principle of our service is that ‘The best interests of the child are paramount’. How do we make that happen? We begin by making the child the centre of our approach by building everything we do on our Centre philosophy.
Our philosophy is to include all children in our Little Stars family and make a positive contribution to their future success by delivering high-quality education and care. We acknowledge that contemporary research has made explicit the connection between the quality of relationships in children’s early years and their future positive cognitive and social development.
We recognise the importance of quality early childhood education and care practices and settings and acknowledge this is a priority in providing children with stimulating play experiences and learning environments which will positively enable all children to develop to their full potential.
We plan to stimulate indoor and outdoor environments based on play, children’s strengths and interests that support all aspects of children’s learning and provoke exploration, intrigue and discovery as this promotes opportunities for sustained and collaborative learning.
We work in partnership with children, families and the community to develop and plan a curriculum that supports a child’s sense of belonging, being and becoming.
Families are supported to provide their individual contributions and personal experiences as we recognise that good practice in early childhood education and care incorporates these contributions and experiences to develop inclusive care practices and play environments and build our cultural competence.
We are responsive to children’s needs and initiate positive engagement with their families to develop trust and respect to strengthen collaborative relationships.
We recognise the importance of working in partnership with families and that this enhances better outcomes for their children.

Transition to School (School Readiness)
- The School Readiness Program prepares your child to successfully make the important transition from 4-year-old Kindergarten into Primary School. A smooth transition from Kindergarten to school lays the foundation for future positive learning experiences.
- We encompass a range of specific content-rich experiences within our kindergarten curriculum that reflect the Early Years Learning Framework as well as the Australian School Curriculum. This has specific learning areas that enable children to become successful, confident and creative individuals and active and informed citizens. As well as the outcomes listed earlier these learning areas include; Language & Literacy, Numeracy, Science, Humanities, Arts, Technology, Health and Physical Education.
- The year before children transition to Primary School is crucial for so many reasons. Children need to start Kindergarten with the basic foundations for literacy and numeracy, including how to recognise their name and possibly even write it. To be able to possibly recognise numerals and count with meaning. We are confident that the children who participate in our Kindergarten Program will feel confident as they start their first year of school as social, confident, resilient, independent children. This includes being able to share, cooperate in a variety of situations, look after their belongings, negotiate with peers during conflict situations, concentrate on a task for long periods.
- Through a holistic approach to school readiness we believe the children will be more prepared for school as they will have had time to develop the life skills necessary to aid for a smooth transition into their Primary School journey. Through our Kindergarten Program, we support and help prepare the children for the next step in their educational achievements.

I was very nervous about starting our childcare journey with my 7 month old but Nicole and Sara have eased every single fear. They have been communicative, flexible and reassuring throughout the whole enrolment process and beginning my daughters care. The excitement I see in my daughter when I drop her off and the way she reaches for the staff and cuddles in, shows me that she feels loved and safe and it makes drop off's so much easier. Thank you so much for making a hard transition so smooth and showing care towards both daughter and mum. Read more
