Welcome to Story House Early Learning Black Rock

At Story House Black Rock, we encourage and strive to build partnerships with families in a caring, creative, holistic, and progressive environment that acknowledges the uniqueness and right to learn, of every child. We care for children from 6 weeks to 5 years in a nuturing and inclusive environment. Through the principles, practices and outcomes of early years learning Framework, we acknowledge and endorse the family, community and each other as valuable sources of knowledge, as we extend on each child's learning and development. 

We believe that the value of play is of utmost importance to children as it is their way of learning about their world.  While children play, they are able to experiment with new ideas, test theories and their understanding of concepts, express their creative ability, release their emotions and share their feelings. Open communications and building on supportive and trusting relationships with families aids in holistic learning for our children. 

We have strong connections with the local community and schools through excursions and incursions. We offer engaging learning programs, government funded Kinder program, Bush Kinder, unique learning environments, nutritious meals prepared on site by our chef and extra curricular activities. Nothing matters more to us than the education, health and well-being of every child who enters our service.

Programs

To create a sense of familiarity and security for the children, the educators follow a predictable daily routine across the centre. This then allows the children to explore and enjoy their day while feeling safe in their surroundings. 

The educators make the most of the facilities to include a mix of both indoor and outdoor learning activities. They consider each child’s individual learning styles and needs to ensure that every child has the support and opportunities they need to thrive.

The children can participate in swimming lessons and cooking activities. They can also attend excursions and often welcome community visitors into the centre for incursions. Nature play is encouraged to teach the children about sustainability and caring for the environment.

The school readiness program supports the transition to big school, helping to prepare these children for life beyond Story House Early Learning.
