About the curriculum

About the curriculum
At Imagine Childcare and Kindergarten Collingwood Park, the Educators believe that children learn through opportunities where they can discover, create, and imagine. They encourage each child to be an active participant in their learning through intentional teaching and play-based learning. At the centre, every child is recognised as being unique and able to learn in their own individual way. The Educators value collaboration with families to find strategies to adjust to each child’s individual needs and development.
They build caring relationships with children which enables them to make curriculum and learning experiences relevant to each individual child, and provide opportunities for children to develop their own unique skills, knowledge and abilities. Children are confident and capable learners and should always be challenged in their learning. The Educators build upon children’s knowledge and development by referring to the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines.
The centre offers care for children in the following groups:
- Nursery
- Tiny Tots
- Toddlers
- Junior Kindy
- Pre Kindy
- Kindergarten
Health & nutrition

Health & nutrition
The centre understands that nutrition plays an important role in each child’s physical development as well as their attitudes towards healthy food.
All meals and snacks are prepared onsite by professional qualified chefs every day. The children work alongside the educators to care for the centre’s vegetable patches, and these vegetables are then used in the kitchen or for cooking experiences with the children.
The educators use meal time as an opportunity to share positive experiences around food and to help children develop social skills such as sharing and turn taking. They role model positive behaviours and attitudes, and involve the children in the menu planning.
All food allergies, intolerances, cultural requirements and family preferences are taken into account by consulting with parents when meal planning for the children.
Programs

Programs
Morning
Sally is eight months old and she starts her day off crawling around and exploring the outdoor play area. Her Mum grabs a coffee and chats to her educators about her sleep patterns before she heads off to work.
Lunchtime
It’s nearly nap time and Sally and her friends are sitting with an educator who is reading some books outside in the shade. Sally loves it when her educator reads in a funny voice.
Afternoon
The children are enjoying some painting and Sally is using her fingers to make a picture that she can take home to show her family.
Morning
Ronan is two and loves to start his day with friends in the sandpit. They scoop sand into their buckets and trucks, pretending to be construction workers.
Lunchtime
Ronan is helping to make fruit salad with the centre chef today. He adds some grapes to the bowl and has a turn mixing it with a big spoon.
Afternoon
Ronan and his friends are watering the vegetables in the garden. They're excited to try some of the tomatoes when they ripen.
Morning
Abby is four years old and loves to help the educators with the veggie garden. Today she is helping with some weeding, and then she picks some basil to give to the centre chef.
Lunchtime
Abby is enjoying some quiet time after lunch with her friends. They have a selection of puzzles that they are working on together, and they ask their educator for a hand when they need it.
Afternoon
Abby has collected some leaves from the playground and is using them to add some texture to the painting she is doing. She hangs it up to dry so that she can take it home.

My son attends this daycare and some staff are very lovely to him, others are alright. My son has come home with many marks on him from either the same children hurting him or from falling on his head. One day i had gotten a call saying he was bitten various times by a child but the staff only noticed after the second or third time that same child bit my son again. The staff don't handle the children in the wrong properly, especially the same children thats hurting some of the kids in his room. Times ive gotten my son from school he’s been left sitting in a poo or pee nappy that looks hours old causing a rash. They let kids share bottles causing kids to get sick. Some staff don’t even pay attention to the children especially while some are having a melt down as the staff are too busy on there phones or having conversations when they should be catering to our kids and doing there job. My childs shoes have been taken twice so some other parent must be taking them for her own, daycare didn’t do anything about it when they could have checked cameras. Im my child's mother & most times i don't even get calls when incidents with my son happen & i think its ridiculous as i should be the first to know not other relatives. (they don't bother to call, i pick up every time they do!) Very nice daycare to look at but very ugly in other terms. I wouldn’t recommend this daycare to anyone Would have to say Ebony & Karly in nursery room 1&2 are the only staff I trust my kids with & are the only ones ive seen do there job decently + open communication with the parents. My son loves them! Read more
