Our curriculum draws upon world-renowned learning approaches such as Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and Steiner, where every child is unique and every day brings an opportunity to ask questions and explore answers. Taking on a play-based approach, our indoor-outdoor program allows children to move freely within each learning environment, acknowledging their right to belong.
We have a very special bond with Arcare Burnside Seniors, where our kindergarten children visit their facility and their residents visit our Centre once a month. Our daily menu is halal-certified and we celebrate a diverse calendar of special days and events.

The educators at Little Flyers are passionate and knowledgeable. With a consistent staffing roster, every child will always find a familiar educator on duty. The educators for the kindergarten programs are also trained kindergarten teachers. They have the skills and training to inspire a love of learning that each child will take with them through their school years and beyond.
Ongoing professional development is a priority at Little Flyers. The educators and staff have access to training on respectful relationships, communication, child protection, first aid, nutrition, inclusion and much more.
Centre philosophy
Centre philosophy
Little Flyers Learning Centres adopt a Reggio Emilia approach to learning which believes that each child develops their own unique knowledge, beliefs, culture, learning style and values. We acknowledge that families are the child’s first teachers and they are central to their child’s learning.
Our educational programs ensure each child is respected as an individual within a group and is encouraged to reach their full potential. We believe that children should develop connections and relationships with their communities and that everyone has the right to belong. Children, families and staff in our Centres will develop cultural competence and in the process, create a shared culture where everyone feels safe, included, respected and valued.
Our environments and learning experiences aspire to create positive and trustful relationships, courage, resilience, empowerment and well-being. Children are encouraged to be empathetic and caring. They will experience success, joy and celebration, by taking risks in their learning, accepting and embracing diversity, developing confidence in themselves and learning from their mistakes.
We know that children learn best when they are interested, curious and motivated. Educators will have high expectations of children and will work with them to co-construct knowledge through learning strategies such as play, inquiry, investigation and research. Educators will scaffold children’s learning, through a responsive curriculum and a commitment to assist children in their search for meaning.
We acknowledge the many ways that children express themselves and communicate. We afford children a hundred ways to express their ideas: imaginative, symbolic, cognitive and metaphorical. Educators listen, document and assess children’s theories and knowledge and share these through documentation to families and the community.

Programs
- Creative expression: the children are encouraged to express their ideas and creativity through art, music and movements. This helps them to develop their emotions and self-esteem and learn important communication skills.
- Culture and community: cultural events are celebrated at Little Flyers to help the children develop stronger connections and relationships with their communities. This helps to create a shared culture of inclusion and respect.
- Excursions and incursions: these are planned around experiences and activities such as farmyard visits, wildlife shows, dance programs, community outings or school visits.
- Literacy and numeracy: the educators encourage the children’s natural curiosity through learning strategies such as play, enquiry, investigation and research. They are empowered to question the meaning behind concepts and to develop a love of learning.
- Sustainability: from a young age, the children are taught about their responsibility as custodians of the planet. They are given opportunities to explore the natural environment and to learn about recycling and water conservation.
About the curriculum
About the curriculum
The curriculum
The curriculum and learning environments at Little Flyers are designed to provide every child with the opportunities they need to to explore and discover. Aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework, the children develop a strong sense of identity and wellbeing as well as a connection to their world. They are active participants in their learning and become effective communicators.
Imaginative play is encouraged and the children have the freedom to explore their own interests and ideas. They are able to ask questions to understand the ‘why’ of things and to develop their own sense of self and independence.
Screen time within the curriculum is purposeful and linked to learning. Technology is used as a tool to enhance lessons so the children can learn how to use it safely and appropriately.
Each child has a personal learning journey that tracks their progress so parents don’t miss any important milestones.
0-2 year olds
In the dedicated infant rooms, the children are stimulated in a safe and nurturing environment. With a combination of one-on-one and group activities, the children have access to different spaces for play and rest.
For babies under the age of 12 months, the educators follow a flexible routine to cater to the needs of each child.
For the toddlers, the focus is on social and emotional development and self-discovery. Through a structured and consistent routine, the children engage in free play, group times and outdoor experiences. They discover music and language and their individual needs are encouraged and nurtured.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, the educators encourage language, music, communication and problem solving skills through individual and group learning. The environment is respectful and nurturing so the children can explore and develop their independence.
Aimed at preparing the children socially and emotionally for school, the program focuses on learning experiences rather than outcomes. With qualified kindergarten teachers at the helm the children are encouraged to develop their autonomy, self-confidence and self-esteem.
The children are engaged in a variety of experiences that are designed to be flexible and cater to the needs of each child.
Little Flyers also has a special relationship with Arcare Burnside Seniors with the residents visiting the centre monthly. The kindergarten children also regularly reciprocate these visits.

Morning
Harry is a nature-loving 6 month old who loves to spend the morning sitting on the grass with his educators. He watches the birds fly past and the ants crawl on the ground.
Lunch
As Harry is only new to eating solids, lunchtime is a lot of fun! Today he ate carrot and sweet potato and couldn’t get enough. His educators took some photos of him enjoying his food to share with his parents.
Afternoon
The afternoon is group time for the children in the infants room. They read some stories and sing some songs. Harry enthusiastically claps his hand while the educators dance around.
Morning
Giselle starts her morning at Little Flyers with some outdoor play. She plays for a while in the sandpit before her attention is captured by some flowers that have grown in the garden.
Lunch
Today the toddlers have a visit from some farmyard animals for an excursion. Giselle eagerly pats the animals and is quite delighted to feed them some lunch.
Afternoon
In the afternoon the toddlers do a craft activity based on their farmyard visit. The educators have collected a range of different materials and Giselle and her friends each make an artwork of their favourite animal.
Morning
Jacinta is 3 years old and has recently moved into the kindergarten room. She is eager to learn and starts her day at Little Flyers by reading some books. She likes to look at the pictures and make up the story as she reads.
Lunch
After lunch, Jacinta and her friends have a music lesson. They are learning about different instruments and the noises they make. The educators then encourage the children to make their own musical instruments using objects from the classroom.
Afternoon
Jacinta spends the afternoon in the outdoor play space. She and her friends decide to do some running races to see who is the fastest.
Morning
In the morning, the educators have planned a numeracy activity for the kindergarten children. Max is 4.5 years old and really enjoys counting. Today they are counting dinosaurs - another of his favourite things.
Lunch
Today is lunchbox day for the children in the 4 year old kindergarten to help prepare the children for school. Max has brought his lunch from home and is starting to get excited about the idea of starting big school next year.
Afternoon
In the afternoon, Max and his friends do some yoga. It’s a little bit of quiet time on a busy day. After yoga, they extend the quiet time and each child picks a book to sit and read.

My daughter went there for a year, and it has been a remarkable year there for her, and for us as parents. She learnt a lot and was well taken care off. The staff are friendly and experienced, and they genuinely care. What stands out for this Kinder was the way they took care of my little girl when she broke her leg. She spent 6 weeks in a cast, and when we took off the cast the doctor told us it could take her weeks until she walks normal again. She would crawl, and never put weight on her leg even though it healed. They accepted her back in the Kinder despite putting a lot of effort to carry her around, and the amazing thing was her teachers kept encouraging her until and within only two weeks her teacher Ms. Lin sent me a video of her walking on her own. I couldn't ask for more. Highly recommended. Read more

Our experience with Caroline Springs Little Flyers has been wonderful. The care and attention my child receives in the Nursery room have exceeded our expectations, and the entire team is dedicated and nurturing. The activities organized are engaging and educational, from creative play like painting and learning about animals to building motor skills with stacking blocks. Each activity is thoughtfully designed to stimulate children's development, and we appreciate the regular updates that show our child happily participating with peers in various setups. I highly recommend this daycare to any parent looking for a supportive and enriching environment for their child. Read more
