The baby room aims to provide a nurturing, caring and safe environment for children to learn, grow and develop with a flexible curriculum, allowing for the changes to children’s routine, catering to their individual needs.
We believe it is essential for Educators to foster relationships with families to allow collaboration in guiding children through their development. Parents are provided with an overview of their child’s day in communication books, outlining meals, sleep times, nappy changes, activities and the child’s general disposition for the day.
At Start Strong Early Learning, we believe that children Belong first to their families and that the families are the most important people in our children’s lives. We believe it is essential for Educators to foster relationships with families to allow partnership in guiding children through their development.
We understand that children are individual Beings, and while it is important to build and maintain relationships with others, we acknowledge the uniqueness of every child in an atmosphere of respect, allowing them to engage the joys and complexities of life throughout their physical, cognitive and social development.
The Toddler Room is run by regular and enthusiastic team members, who all bring their individual qualities and traits into our philosophy and educational program. The Qualified Educators successfully manage and organise the room with the aim to be highly supportive of parents whilst providing a program which incorporates warmth, interest, stimulation and security to each Toddler entrusted to us.
Through creating close partnerships, we nurture each child’s development in a circle of security, where families feel comfortable, respected, supported and connected. We endeavour to continue to inform families of their child’s developmental progress and milestones through verbal feedback, developmental summaries and individual portfolios, which are constantly updated and are taken home by families.
As a centre, we follow the and ensure that all children receive quality education programs in their early childhood setting. . The framework’s vision is for all children to experience play-based learning that is engaging and builds success for life. Play is very important for toddlers. Through play, children explore and learn to understand the world around them as they come to communicate, discover, imagine and create.
When children play, they are showing us what they have learnt and what they are trying to understand. This is why play is one of the key foundations of the Early Years Learning Framework. By using the guidelines of the framework educators will guide your child’s play by carefully designing learning activities and stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments.
We are very fortunate in the Toddler Room to have a variety of open-ended resources such as construction toys, dress-ups, educational books, play dough, home corner utensils and puzzles. Open-ended toys allow children to imagine, think and build upon what lays in front of them.
The Toddler Room also focuses on many wonderful and intriguing art and craft experiences. The toddlers love the bountiful amount of resources in which we have to offer, allowing children to create, construct and produce many beautiful masterpieces, which we display proudly around the room and are also taken home to show their families.
As a part of the children’s language and speech development children participated in reading books. Overall, the Toddler Room offers a wide range of interactive and educational experiences. The carers are highly experienced and educated and are always looking at ways to further their knowledge. Most importantly the children within our room feel confident, secure and happy. I strongly believe that our setting and its values will hold your child in good stead for all their future endeavours and milestones.
At Start Strong Early Learning Centres, we have incorporated technology which benefits the children through improved teaching and learning opportunities across the whole curriculum. The integration of this technology in our Kindy Room encourages active learning of Jolly Phonics, problem solving, shapes, colours, numbers, letters and various other topics.
As part of our service, we offer a range of activities that help children transition to school. Some of these activities include the Jolly Phonics program, which enables children to learn the 42 sounds of the English Language. This gives children the foundation for reading and writing. To further their literacy skills, we do a structured writing lesson which the children enjoy. These lessons focus on pre-writing skills and extend to copying sentences.
Once a month the children do cooking with our cook. They look at a recipe, help measure and mix up the ingredients to create something multicultural.
We offer a French Linguistic Program. For half an hour every week, they sing songs, count to 20, learn the colours, the days of the week and other various words and phrases.
The curriculum also offers “Program Achieve.” Interactive puppets are used for role-play scenarios which teach the children about getting along, confidence, organisation, persistence and resilience.
With our show and share program, the children are allocated a day of the week where they need to bring in something to share with the group. This is to promote confidence and positive self-esteem for the children. There is a weekly topic that the children follow which coincides with the theme for the month. Parents are encouraged to work with their child to help them draw, research or create something for the topic.
