My daughter is really happy to come to this centre. The director, Kim and the staff are very friendly and always greet us with a smile. The staff in the room always told us how her day went, how long she had slept during the day, what time and how much she had her bottles, all on record and very detailed. I can feel that the level of care she has received is above and beyond. We are very happy with the service. Highly recommended.

As a new mum to the area, I am blown away at the care and professionalism at this centre. The manager Kim is so warm and friendly and the genuine care and love she has for the kids extends to her amazing team of staff. You arrive and get a welcoming smile from every single staff member and then you speak to them directly and they inform you about your child and all they have done for the day. I have had my kids in two other centres and have not yet come across this level of care and the welcoming environment. Highly recommend this centre if you are looking for care that is personal, friendly and genuinely meets the needs of your child and also your own needs to be able to go to work with the peace of mind knowing your child is with people who care about them as individuals.

About the curriculum
About the curriculum
The educators at Mayfield Melton South understand that for children, the first eight years are fundamental in establishing core values, sense of identity, and self-worth.
They see parents and families as the first educator, and that their role is to work together in a collaborative and supportive way on a child’s learning journey.
The educational philosophies at the centre are based on the Reggio Emilia approach to learning which supports enquiry and play-based learning opportunities in natural and responsive environments. The learning programs are designed to be emergent in nature and guided by the children’s interests and needs.
The centre’s learning programs are informed by both the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) which is based on the fundamental belief that children’s lives are characterised as “Belonging, Being and Becoming”; and the
Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) which identifies five learning outcomes for children that the centre strives toward:
- Children have a strong sense of identity (IDENTITY)
- Children are connected with and contribute to their world (COMMUNITY)
- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing (WELLBEING)
- Children are confident and involved learners (LEARNING)
- Children are effective communicators (COMMUNICATION)
There are four rooms at the centre:
- Nursery: 6 weeks - 18 months
- Toddler 1: 18 months - 3 years
- Pre Kinder: 3 years - 4 years
- Kinder: 4 years - 5 years

My son attended this kinder for three years before graduating and moving on to school. In his early years, he faced some challenges with emotional regulation, but thanks to the unwavering support and expertise of Director Kim and the wonderful educators, he thrived. They worked closely with both my son and me to implement effective strategies to help him recognise his emotions and navigate them positively. The nurturing approach they balanced with developmental and educational goals allowed us to overcome these challenges without the need for early intervention. I feel confident that he is now both emotionally and intellectually prepared for school—and he is genuinely excited to begin this new chapter. One of the standout aspects of this centre is Kim’s hands-on leadership. Her presence as a highly involved and approachable director was a major factor in our decision to join the centre. While children and parents interact with various carers and educators, having a central, connecting figure like Kim fosters a cohesive and collaborative environment. This approach doesn’t diminish the authority or leadership of the room educators—instead, it strengthens it by creating a unified, supportive team. Ms Fale, in particular, has a clear passion for education and excels in communication with both parents and children. She consistently takes the time to share thoughtful insights about the children, demonstrating how well she truly knows each child. The centre itself is an incredible space for learning and play. The outdoor area is a natural wonderland, with big trees and nature-inspired activities woven into the curriculum to encourage creativity and exploration. When we first joined, there were chickens and even a snake as part of the learning environment, which my son loved. In his final year, the introduction of swim classes added a fresh and exciting element to his routine—he would eagerly count down the days each week until swim day. Another notable strength of the centre is the longevity of its staff. The long-term retention of educators creates stability and fosters strong relationships with the children, significantly enhancing their experience. I believe this stems from the incredible leadership and the passion the team has for education. Thanks to this centre, my son has grown in ways I could have only hoped for, and I’m grateful for the exceptional care, dedication, and vision that made his journey so rewarding. Read more
