Goodstart Early Learning Bertram Centre overview
Goodstart Bertram cares for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years in a warm and friendly environment. Dedicated educators deliver quality early learning programs that are adapted to suit children's learning styles and needs. As a result, children engage in programs that support them to become confident, active learners.
Inside, the rooms are decorated with children's artwork and well-equipped with age-specific resources and materials. Toys, books, a family play area, a nature space, and arts and crafts are some of the learning opportunities the children can access.
Outdoors, there are three age-specific areas that ensure the children can play in a safe environment. Natural wooden structures, a playground, slides, a climbing wall, and a sandpit ensure children are kept busy while developing critical social and gross motor skills.

Curriculum and programs
Curriculum and programs
The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.
As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.
The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.
Play is the order of the day of Goodstart Early Learning and the programs at the centre are grounded in a play-based approach. The educators embed teaching and learning into play experiences, helping the children to make sense of the world around them. This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills.
The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.
The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.
Parent communication and involvement
Parent communication and involvement
Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.
The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.
The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

This was our 3rd centre we attended, as someone who use to work in early education my standards were pretty high and we had issues with previous centres. I was so glad we switched many years ago and my son and daughter have both attended Goodstart Bertram. The selling point for me was the very large yard that gave plenty of opportunity for the kids to play through the day. There was an issue at one point with the wood chips causing splinters and Goodstart completely emptied the yard and replaced ALL of the wood chips and haven’t had an issue since, I was really impressed how my concerns were addressed and the issue was rectified promptly. The staff are all incredible and I love seeing little interactions of my children running up to them for a cuddle, to say good morning or to show off their outfit for the day. My daughter often comes home with her hair done all pretty or nails painted, she can’t wait to show me what she has made for the day. The only downfall is probably the infrequent amount of updates regarding what the kids do each day, sometimes it can be a month or two between seeing pictures. I am aware this is how the programming works but it would be nice just to see a picture or two each day they attend don’t need the write up just love seeing pictures of my children having a great day. Sometimes the email response can be a bit slow but if it’s urgent I am always able to call and speak to someone who can help. I am really impressed with the amount of events the centre puts on for families as well, there is so many events hosted and put on where families are invited in the celebrate, there is a lot of work put into this by staff to organise and run successfully and it’s always an enjoyable evening and very much appreciated. I will always recommend Goodstart Bertram to others. Read more
