I've had 2 children attend Goodstart and couldn't be happier with the care and attention they've received. My daughter has since moved into Primary School and the excellent staff provided a fantastic kinder experience which prepared her for an easy transition to school life. My son currently attends the centre and has a great relationship with the staff. Both kids started in the nursery and have attended all rooms from nursery to the kinder room. I've had my kids in Goodstart over the COVID times and the staff have worked very diligently to adhere to health regulations and dealing with illnesses while also providing a high level of care and education to my kids. I am very grateful to the staff for the experience they've provided for my family. I'd highly recommend the centre to any parents who are looking for high quality care for their children. Read more

My wife and I chose the centre because we believed at the time the staff would provide the best environment for our children to thrive. My daughter has now been attending the centre for over a year now and I have not had a single bad experience with either child. In fact we are so glad that we sent our daughter to Goodstart Mount Helen that we made sure our son started earlier in life. The facilities are fantastic but what makes Goodstart Mount Helen special is the team. There is a fantastic group of full time and casual staff all of which as far as I am concerned are all providing my children with an amazing environment to learn and play. Unfortunately, we have friends who have had bad experiences at other daycare centres in the Ballarat Region and have moved them around. If we moved away from Mount Helen we would keep our children at Goodstart Mount Helen because they have made good friends and we know they are treasured by the friendly staff. To provide a transparent review, I would like to discuss other reviewers comments regarding sickness. For the record I have a severe case of sleep apnea which means I need a cpap machine. When I get sick from the kids, I might be sick for 3 weeks while my wife recovers after a week. For this reason I feel my comments about this topic are pretty relevant. The reality is, every daycare centre struggles with children's illnesses particular during the winter months. Another point is that whenever young children are in a group the reality is they will get sick from time to time. At the beginning this can be frequent but as they build up immunity this decreases. As much as I can totally agree that it can get very challenging and frustrating, the idea that we can send our children to a daycare centre and never get sick is an impossibility. I think it is unfair to single out a particular centre when the problem is universal. Thank you to the team at Goodstart Mount Helen for providing the best care possible for my children. Read more

My son only attended since 22nd July 2024 but he has been sick more frequent than since he was born which was 2 years ago. In total of 3.5 week so far, he had to go to GP 3 times and 1 time to hospital. If you have kid(s), you know the headache to have your kid sick. The annoying thing is they want you to take your kid home when he has fever which he actually got the virus from the centre. I swear to God I saw a girl who had very bad cough why not send her home?? Only God knows if that was the one or someone else in the centre that has infected our son. Now our son has infected both of us (parents) as well until we both cannot work for a week at least. Our son cannot attend the centre this week and yet we have paid for it. I wouldn’t write this type of review but today I cannot take this illness anymore as I don’t feel better and yesterday I even had to call ambulance for myself. In my entire life I never had this very bad illness, what virus have you brought to us? If you want to send a kid home, send everyone who is sick! Not only the one with fever. You allow these kid(s) with very bad cough and flu to infect others who come there perfectly healthy? Quite hypocrite isn’t it? Another matter one of their educators (the indian) always say when I talk about the progress of my son she always said ‘we can’t watch all the kids because we have so many kids here’. Quite unprofessional, isn’t it? What kind of excuse is that? I know there is a law of 1:4 ratio for educator and kids. Unless you have not followed the regulation, then you are just LAZY! You want to get paid for being lazy? Well pardon me that’s why I ended the full-time care with you. P. S I do not need you to call us to resolve anything. Unless you can heal our illness today, there is nothing to be resolved. You have lost us money, gave us virus and messing with our duties. Read more
