About the curriculum
About the curriculum
6 months - 18 months
For many babies, the first 18 months of their lives are not only filled with exciting moments of achieving new milestones, but also filled with wonder about their world as they discover the people and places around them through their senses. Gloryland Mitcham's goal is to ensure your child feels a deep sense of belonging while in the centre's care, in an environment that makes children feel safe, and where their needs are met, before they begin to thrive in the areas of communication and learning.
18 months - 3 years
Now that your child has built good rapport with the educators and they are confident in their learning environment, Gloryland Mitcham aims to begin building their learning of early literacy and numeracy skills, alongside helping them to navigate new and challenging social situations. From developing the ability to follow one-step instructions, to articulating their preferences and interests, the centre aims to provide your child with the frameworks that will set them up to thrive in their early learning.
3 years - 4 years
By now, your child will have developed their independence, and have begun forming friendship groups. At this stage, more than just developing language, children need to develop problem solving skills as well as learn appropriate social rules. Educators are on hand to help children bridge the gap and expand their world of imagination through exciting challenges that encourage them to give new things a go.
4 years - 5 years
At this point, your child will be starting to get ready for school. They will need plenty of practice in being responsible for their own belongings, raising their hands to ask questions and standing up for themselves. Children will learn these habits as they are guided through the centre’s School Readiness Program, which will equip them with early reading and writing, group huddle, public speaking, basic STEM, creative arts and imagination skills.

Health & nutrition
Health & nutrition
At Gloryland Mitcham, the children are involved in the process of food preparation, and are exposed to whole food education, which helps to develop a greater appreciation for what they eat. All meals and snacks are prepared in-house, with a menu created in partnership with Mandy Sacher from the Wholesome Child, Nourish Program.
The seasonal menu offers a range of fresh fruit and vegetables accompanied with recipes that are aimed at expanding children’s palate and interest in a diverse range of food. The centre encourages the children to engage with a range of cooking experiences that also teach children about different cultures.
Children learn self-help skills by serving their own drinks and putting their cups/bowls away on the trolley when they have finished their food. Everyone sings a Grace song before mealtimes, and educators will interact with the children during mealtimes, creating a friendly, sociable atmosphere while discussing the importance of healthy eating and table manners. Educators will role model good eating habits and encourage children to try food that they may be unfamiliar with.

We started at Gloryland in 2020 and it has been a wonderful experience. The educators, admin, kitchen staff and leadership team have all been fantastic and make an effort to get to know your child. They are consistently looking for ways to improve and gave our child a great start to his early education from various incursions and excursions to language and music classes. We cannot be more thankful and grateful to be part of this ELC and wish them every success in the years ahead. Read more

From the very first moment we had our tour at Gloryland ELC Mitcham, we knew it was going to be an amazing and special place to send our child. We had attended a number of tours at other ELCs but Gloryland stood out to us as all staff were friendly and helpful, the facilities were top notch and well maintained and the feel for the place was warm and welcoming to everyone. In each of the rooms our initial observations were that every single child was engaged in their learning environment and not looking to the door and keeping and eye out for their parents (as we noticed at other ELCs). Our child's integration into his room was smooth because of the extra support and care from the educators to keep him included in activities; our child started in 3 year old kinder and was integrating into a room where existing friendships had already formed which could have been difficult but he was able to slot in easily with their help. Gloryland is exceptionally well organised which is a testament to the great team they have across the board (directors, admin team, team leads, all educators and kitchen staff). Updates via their App are done daily without missing a beat and the weekly newsletter is a nice touch to bring the community together and keep parents informed and engaged. One of the best things about Gloryland is the strong sense of community and bringing the children and their families together and along with this always striving to be better and always looking for feedback (as with all great communities though, what you put in is what you get out of it). Thank you Gloryland for getting our son ready for Prep (he has grown into an amazing little person) - you'll always have a special place in our hearts. Read more
Thank you, Daryl, for such an incredible and detailed review! It means so much to us that your experience at Gloryland Mitcham was so positive and memorable. We’re delighted to hear how smooth and supportive your child’s transition was and that he felt welcomed into the 3-year-old kinder room. Seeing him grow into an amazing little person ready for Prep fills us with pride! Your kind words about our team, facilities, and sense of community are deeply appreciated. We strive to create a warm, engaging, and inclusive environment for every child and family, and it’s wonderful to know that stood out to you from the very first tour. Thank you for being such an involved and valued part of our community and for your trust in us during these important early years. We wish your son all the best in Prep and beyond—he will always have a special place in our hearts!
