Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Mona Vale is nestled beneath native gum trees in a peaceful residential area, close to schools, shops, and transport links. Our centre features spacious indoor areas that encourage self-led play, decision-making, and social interactions. These open onto our beautiful outdoor spaces, fostering seamless indoor-outdoor exploration throughout the day.
Our curriculum follows the Early Years’ Learning Framework, tailored to each child's individual needs and interests. We place a strong emphasis on building capable and confident learners, encouraging children to explore nature in a safe but stimulating environment with natural elements like logs, tyres, and water play. Messy play and sensory experiences are embraced to deepen their connection with the world around them.
Relationships are at the heart of everything we do. From the moment you join us, we work with families to provide personalised care, believing that parents are a child’s first and best teacher. We foster secure attachments through a key educator approach, promoting the foundations of lifelong partnerships.
We keep families engaged through Storypark, regular family events, and newsletters. This allows us to maintain open communication and deliver a learning programme that reflects each child's unique strengths and cultural diversity.
Our on-site cook prepares healthy, nutritious meals every day, and we cater to allergies and special dietary needs.

Curriculum and programs
Curriculum and programs
The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.
As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.
The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.
Play is the order of the day of Goodstart Early Learning and the programs at the centre are grounded in a play-based approach. The educators embed teaching and learning into play experiences, helping the children to make sense of the world around them. This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills.
The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.
The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.
Parent communication and involvement
Parent communication and involvement
Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.
The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.
The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.
Meet the team
Meet the team
Goodstart Early Learning employs qualified and skilled educators who are dedicated to making a difference to the children in their care. The centre employs people who are empathetic and compassionate, with a nurturing disposition and a passion for care. Working collaboratively as a team, the educators display qualities such as positivity, kindness and, most importantly, a desire to help every child thrive.
The educators hold relevant qualifications, including the Kindergarten and Preschool Program teachers who are university qualified. The educators are lifelong learners, participating in regular and ongoing professional development to enhance their skills. They are encouraged to upskill, learning about the latest research and thinking in the sector. They can then bring this knowledge back to the centre to share with their colleagues for the benefit of the children.
Kylie DeCeglie
Hi, I’m Kylie and I am the Centre Director here at Goodstart Mona Vale. I started here in April 2024, I have 19 years experience working as a Centre Director on the Northern Beaches and live locally. I love our Community, I have 3 small children who attend local schools and you will find us all most weekends in summer enjoying everything this area has to offer, but mostly at Mona Vale Beach.
I believe children develop and learn through their own interests and imagination, and the best way to foster this is by creating a safe and secure environment. This includes building strong relationships between the entire family and our Goodstart Mona Vale team.
Personally, I have felt very welcome and supported here by both the educators and families. Being situated right in the heart of Mona Vale is a huge advantage as it encourages us to open our doors and be a part of the larger community. It is heart warming to arrive here each morning to hear singing and laughter and be greeted by the smiling faces of the children.
As a Centre Director my aim is to build this Service into the best on the Northern Beaches. I am always available for a chat and to listen to any feedback you have to offer. It is important to me that your child’s time at our Centre is a positive, nurturing and fun experience. I believe their love of learning starts here, and they will leave fully prepared for their transition onto school.
My door is always open and I look forward to meeting you and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to book a tour where you can see this amazing Centre first hand. I am sure you and your child will love it as much as I do.

In response to Michelle and Jamie, the last two '1 star' reviews. From what I witnessed, the response from the current staff when dealing with this family (and yes, the two 1 star reviews are married). They were met with response as soon as possible (despite their reports), attempted behavioural plans (despite the reaction of the father, even going so far as to refuse terms such as, 'neurodiverse' assuming it was about his child ~which says a lot ~ when it was actually in reference to the employee who mentioned and their children, a lot of communication which has led to abuse from said father to employees in front of other staff and CHILDREN!! Verbal abuse and intimidation towards staff has personally been witnessed in regards to the father who left the review. Also, Jamie (the father) words were, "do you think we would be here, if we had any other option" when trying to come up with plans for his child so, the mention or even hint of them having experience at other places is odd? All of this because they put their heads in the sand and refuse to open their minds to the fact that their child could possibly be neurodiverse or need behavioural support (God forbid!). Monkey see, monkey do. My child had a great experience. Read more

I have hesitated to write this review however after 18+ months it is clear this center has an enormous issue that management are not taking seriously. High staff turnover, multiple center managers, lack of care plans for children, poor communication and high turnover of children are some of the main issues that persist at this centre. Having a baseline comparison from 2 other childcare centers who are excellent (both CBD and locally) this centre is seriously underperforming and has not addressed some of the identified issues from families despite constant feedback. In this time, there have been a very small handful of excellent educators who do their best with what they have. But a large systemic issue remains. Until the above is addressed, it is not a viable option. There are plenty of amazing centres locally, I'd recommend looking into these first. ** Also take some time to carefully look at the reviews, some of the most recent are fake/reviewers based OS and not in relation to the business and the others are from 3-7 years ago! The place has been in perpetual crisis since our son joined in 2023. The staff turnover is unbelievable. We had thought things were getting better but they are as bad as ever. Nobody responds to emails. Children are blamed for the failing of the centre. Every day there is a new slew of casual staff who will not know your child. Complaints lead to empty promises of change, action plans and follow ups from management - none of which ever seems to be actioned or communicated Some of the staff are fantastic - whilst they last. I cannot recommend this centre. Read more
