C&K Carseldine Community Child Care Centre overview
C&K Carseldine Community Childcare Centre is a branch service within C&K and is situated on the Brisbane Northside. Close to public transport, Carseldine is nestled within the natural surroundings of the old QUT campus where we enjoy nature, flora and fauna. Set back form the main road, please take the Gate 1 access and follow the driveway to the allocated car park for families, visitors and guests.
The centre, which has been here for 20 years, was previously operated by the QUT Student Guild, and in 2010 transitioned into a C&K branch service.
Carseldine caters for ages 6 weeks to 5 years including Government Approved Kindergarten Program. The need within the community in relation to care for children aged 6 weeks to 3 years is quite high and therefore our waiting lists are extensive. If you are considering placing you child within our service, please fill out an online waiting list form as soon as possible.
Carseldine Childcare is an open planned building with high ceilings and Breezair cooling systems. Our surroundings consist of large, natural play spaces including trees and shrubs, large sandpit, swings, bike tracks, mud patch and a courtyard. We adhere to our Sun Safety policy by providing shade sails, shaded veranda areas and numerous foliage. Our future plans for our outdoor play space is for the construction of bridges, dry creek beds, edible/sensory garden, recycled water tanks and turf.
C&K Carseldine embraces C&K’s nationally acclaimed and highly regarded curriculum Building waterfalls – a play based curriculum which encourages children to express their own ideas and understandings in play and through the visual and performing arts.
In process of representation, as they play with others, engage with materials and idea, children’s language and social abilities are fostered. They are encouraged to think flexibly and creatively as they seek salutation to conflicts and problems.
To qualify for our kindergarten room your child must attend a minimum of 2 days per week.

Kindergarten Program
Our dedicated and qualified teachers and educators nurture healthy minds and bodies, celebrating each child’s individual strengths to support their participation and growth towards their full potential. We co-design vibrant learning communities with children, families, and communities, ensuring your C&K centre is a place where your child feels safe, makes friends, and belongs.
Our indoor and outdoor spaces ignite imaginations and foster curiosity, allowing children to explore, experiment, play, and learn. Educators are open to your child’s ideas and will guide their social and emotional growth. Your child will have opportunities to explore, solve problems, develop friendships, use their creativity, and play. We also prepare children for the transition to school and a lifelong love of learning.
All C&K community kindergartens and childcare centres deliver a government-approved kindergarten program.
Infant and Toddler Approach
C&K has developed a specialized infant and toddler approach, guiding the care and education of our youngest learners. Our warm and professional educators "slow down" to be in the moment with your child as they explore the world. We focus on developing deep, trusting relationships with each baby and toddler, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and secure through consistent routines and rituals.
Babies and toddlers are naturally curious about the world, and we delight in sharing their sense of wonder.
Play-Based Learning at C&K
Play-based learning at C&K reflects the children, educators, families, and communities at each centre. Our teachers and educators enrich and extend children’s play in meaningful ways. For example, if a child is playing in the sandpit, an educator might encourage them to draw maps in the sand or measure water levels, supporting literacy and numeracy development.
Programs at C&K centres may also include:
Nature Play: Time to play freely outdoors, connect with nature, and use natural materials.
Risky Play: Safe exploration of questions like "Can this branch take my weight?" under expert supervision.
STEM: Inquiry-based experiences incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Literacy and Language: Talking, reading, conversing, drawing, and playing with open-ended materials.
The Arts: Exploring creativity through visual arts, drama, music, movement, and a variety of materials.
First Nations Peoples' Histories and Perspectives: Learning about and respecting the connections to land, sea, and sky in all our programs.
About the Curriculum
About the Curriculum
C&K has developed a Infant and Toddler Approach which informs the way we care for and educate our babies and toddlers. Our philosophy for this age is to “slow down” and be in the moment with your child as they learn and explore the world. We focus on developing a deep and trusting relationship with each child.
All C&K childcare centres deliver C&K's Quality Kindergarten Program. Kindergarten, also known as pre-prep or preschool, is a program for children who are turning 4 by June 30 in the year before they attend school. C&K’s kindy programs are government-approved and led by experienced and university qualified teachers. Our program supports children’s curiosity, creativity, problem solving, resilience and real-world knowledge and skills.
At C&K we know that children do not learn in isolation, learning is a collaborative process between teachers, educators, children and families. At C&K we believe children are powerful learners, active citizens, thinkers and theorisers - this is at the heart of our early childhood curriculum. We've designed our indoor and outdoor spaces to ignite imaginations and nurture healthy minds and bodies. Learning through play is an integral part of our education program.
Our educators skilfully enrich and extend on children's play experiences, creating a learning program that is tailored and meaningful for your child. Your child’s learning and care journey is shared with you via conversations with your child’s educators, through written documentation and through StoryPark (an app and website).C&K has developed a Infant and Toddler Approach which informs the way we care for and educate our babies and toddlers.

Our Education Program
C&K's early childhood curriculum, Listening and Learning Together:
C&K Curriculum Approach, serves children from birth to five years old across all our kindergartens and childcare centres. This approach aligns with The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG), integrating contemporary practices and understandings of the early years.
Our educators skillfully partner with children and families to create caring and vibrant learning communities. In the year before school, university-qualified teachers guide and support children to become curious, capable, and collaborative learners. For children from birth to three, our infant and toddler approach focuses on slowing down and being present as they explore the world.
At C&K, we see children from birth as thinkers and theorisers, rich in ideas and knowledge, powerful learners, and active citizens. We work with an anti-bias curriculum to promote fairness, empowerment, and respect, modeling equity and inclusion. We honor every child’s right to play, build on their existing learning from home, and provide foundations for lifelong learning.
