Goodstart Early Learning Pascoe Vale - Cumberland Road East

Play is the order of the day of Goodstart Early Learning and the programs at the centre are grounded in a play-based approach. The educators embed teaching and learning into play experiences, helping the children to make sense of the world around them. This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills. 

The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.

The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.

Emily Wai

My name is Emily and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Pascoe Vale Cumberland Road East.

Throughout my Early Childhood Education and Care journey I have worked in a range of educational settings including long day care, kindergartens and after school hours care. Through this I have gained valuable insights into the strengths and complexities of each pedagogical practices and learning environment, and aim to use this knowledge and experience in my current practice as Centre Director.

I am extremely passionate about my chosen profession and very proud to be a part of this company. I highly believe in the recognition of the uniqueness of each child and family and the needs for children to develop an understanding and respect for self and others in the community. As a team, we valued our relationship with children and family, and that these relationships are central to everything that we do.

At Goodstart Pascoe Vale Cumberland Road East, our vision for children is “Empower each child to be what they dream to be”

Throughout my journey at the centre, I worked as a teacher, an educational leader, as well as the assistant director.  This had helped me to develop a close bonding with the children, families, the team, and an in depth knowledge of the wider community community. Our centre have been through the Assessment and Rating process as a centre in 2016 and 2022 and have been awarded the rating of EXCEEDING in all National Quality Standards both times.
