About the Curriculum
About the Curriculum
“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber
Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years
Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and by experimenting. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play, water play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing!
Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years
Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games and reading experiences.
On any given day the Toddler children can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.
Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn taking, developing self confidence and emotional self regulation. Our team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.
Preschool Space: 3 – 6 years
Preschool is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program encourages active engagement in learning and supports a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.
The oral language supports literacy learning. A child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Preschool children's development by engaging in rich discussions, introducing new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations, as well as singing, playing games, and reading with the children daily.
Throughout the Preschool year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.
Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, is supported through group learning environments. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Lastly, ensuring that all children are ready for the ‘big school’ by preparing them for all that ‘big school’ has to offer.
Morning
Anita is 11 months old and enjoys sensory play outside in the sandpit with her friends. She sits near her educator who helps teach her how to scoop the sand into the bucket. Anita is learning how to dig, carry, and move the sand. She is also exploring texture and learning what happens to the sand when she adds water!
Lunch
Anita has finished her lunch and is preparing to take a nap. Her educator changes her nappy, prepares a bottle and reads Anita a story before her afternoon sleep.
Afternoon
Anita and some of her nursery friends enjoy some story time and songs outside in the shaded garden. They read ‘Peepo’ which is Anita’s favourite book.
Morning
Luca is two and a half years old and loves to start his day at the centre outside on the climbing equipment. His friends join him, and together they pretend to be pirates on a ship looking for treasure. Through this exciting dramatic play, Luca is learning about himself and the world around him. Dramatic play is helping Luca identify his interests, abilities, likes and dislikes.
Lunch
Luca is watering the vegetables in the garden. By doing this, Luca is learning the importance of growing and caring for the veggies in the garden. Luca picks a tomato from the garden, which the Chef will use to help make Luca and his friend’s lunch - Spaghetti Bolognese!
Afternoon
Luca enjoys art, and today he is painting a beach scene from a recent family holiday. He adds the finishing touches and sets the painting aside to dry; so that he can take it home to share with his family.
While painting, Luca is learning how to express himself creatively and how to convey his ideas and emotions. Painting is also helping develop Luca’s hand eye coordination, finger, wrist and hand strength. Making marks on paper is important for self expression as well as later learning.
Morning
Ava is almost five years old and can’t wait for today’s carpentry experience - she loves building things! Carpentry experiences allow Ava and her friends to extend their learning through real-life experiences. While participating in carpentry, Ava is learning to problem solve, experiment and predict. She is also improving her hand eye coordination, manipulative skills and muscular strength.
Lunch
Before Ava sits down for lunch with her friends and educators, Ava takes part in the centre’s sports program. Ava loves sports. Sports helps Ava improve her flexibility and strength (perfect for growing bodies!). Sports also allows her to practice different skills in a fun and engaging way.
Afternoon
Ava is off to ‘big school’ next year and she can't wait to start! Ava and her friends will be visiting the local primary school next week. In preparation for the visit, the class is creating a list of questions to ask the Principal and school children.
Health and Nutrition
Health and Nutrition
Our centre chef prepares and cooks healthy and nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating.
Our centre offers children nutrient-rich, unprocessed, and seasonal whole foods – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi my name is Kristin, and I am the Centre Manager here at Little Angels World of Learning. I started working in early learning in 2004. I have been at the centre since 2016. I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and am currently studying for my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education,
I am passionate about the children’s interests, and I love helping them learn as much as possible and setting them up for success in a positive and nurturing environment. I enjoy seeing the children grow, develop, and have fun in their friendships, as well as celebrating their successes.
In a centre-based environment, children learn routines and skills that they need through various techniques to help them develop and grow in a safe and structured environment. Children also learn literacy and numeracy skills that form the foundation for their education, but it’s more than just reading, writing, and counting. A dedicated care and early learning environment allows your child to develop social skills, which helps them form healthy relationships with others.
Because we are a small centre and live in the close-knit community of the Tweed/Banora area, all educators know all our families and children, no matter which room they’re in. At Little Angels World of Learning, we foster open communication with our families, building those trusting relationships. Our educators build those trusting relationships and work with children and families to understand children's individual interests, strengths and needs to set individualised learning goals.

It used to be great when there were experienced staff and the place was adequately manned but in the last 7 months it's just become bad. The curriculum being taught there involves mainly of looking at the touchscreen. Continuous pointless updates with a table being updated being sent via the Xplor app. My daughter was in there since she was just over a year old until I changed her 2 months ago to a different daycare. BEST move I ever did. She is absolutely thriving there now and the social problems that she was displaying at Little Angels for 3 continuous months were correctly recognized by a brilliant teacher at her new daycare as her simply trying to make friends. This social problem has been remedied completely with just a little patience, observation and most importantly the correct procedures being put into place to help overcome this phase. This was not done at Little Angels. The procedure that was apparently put into place was half assed and done simply to cover themselves to show that they had done the correct thing. My daughter was 4 months off from starting primary school. It was even suggested for my daughter to go see a doctor. The worry that this caused for me before I followed my gut instinct to pull her out was immense. Not to mention how miserable she was in her last few months there. In the space of one month (Mar-24) 6 senior staff members left with another 4 trickling away in the following months. There is a new Area Manager as well. I put in a request for the Area Manager to get in touch with me when I filled out the resignation form and I am still awaiting that call...this was 2 months ago. The problem seems to be with the Corporation/Management. Give me a mum with experience over a staff member that has just come out of school training of some sort any day. The place was always filthy unless there was an event coming up. Way too much pressure and expectations on the educators to be cleaners as well as watch over 12 children at a time. No wonder they drop like flies over there. The center had cleaners come in twice a week to clean. At a daycare center this is a joke. Should be daily. Cockroaches in the corners, toilets not flushed or wiped down after the kids, permanent smell of mould from the rooms, a huge pile of shoes and socks that grew day by day. Just no attention to detail really. The absolute worst was when I would go to pick my daughter up and there would be little toddlers walking around crying for their Mum/Dad with green crusted snot running down their noses, conjunctivitis in their eyes and staff member were on their phones or just not enough staff so kids would be overlooked. Absolutely heart breaking really. I could go on and on but this daycare has already taken up too much of my time. If you have no other option but to enroll your child there keep your options open with other daycares and get on the waiting lists. One of the best things with my daughters new daycare is that when my daughter doesn't attend, we don't get charged! Never understood getting charged for the daycare charging me when they were shut on public holidays. Even when sufficient notice was given for a holiday you still only got 30% off. An absolute joke of a daycare. No wonder the old manager simply walked out the door after 15 years of being there. Couldn't even entice the staff that wanted to leave with higher pays either. The nursery has a large inside play area which flows out to an even larger nursery-only, shaded outside play area. The nursery staff are all incredibly caring and genuinely want to know how my daughter is going, her likes and preferences and how they can support her. I receive regular photos and updates via the app and my daughter loves the food! Kristen, the centre manager, is incredibly efficient and really helped allay my first-time-to-daycare nerves. Overall, great environment. Read more

Our daughter absolutely thrived at Little Angels. The educators are beautiful, treat children as individuals and foster an environment of fun, imagination and learning. They provide healthy meals and have a huge outdoor area for children to play. We are so sad to be moving out of the area as we will miss Little Angels. Truly a 5 start centre and 10/10 would recommend! Read more
