Antara Childcare and Preschool Bexley

At Antara Childcare and Preschool Bexley, the educators view uninterrupted open ended play as the most important part of the children’s day.  No matter the weather, the children can explore the outdoor space and this is encouraged every day.

The centre is privately owned by a local family who own and operate four centres within the St George and Sutherland areas.  The centres all continue to be recognised as leaders in their field, with awards and nominations for excellence in the delivery of children’s learning for many years.

The centres are well known in the community and do a lot of charity and community work, with partners such as Oxfam, The Nappy Collective, local nursing homes, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and Australian Childhood Foundation.

The centre owners pride themselves on having an exceptional team of educators who are equally as passionate about early childhood education. With many long-term educators, the children at the centre are able to enjoy the stability that this offers.

The centre was a finalist in the St George Small Business Awards 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

Incursions: the centre enjoys visits from local artists who teach the children a variety of techniques, including some Indigenous artists. 

Excursions: the children are taken out into the wider community where they can extend on their interests.

Fitness program: the children take part in a Happy Feet fitness and sports program each week.

Another part of the owner’s family is the centre’s much loved Cook, Gogo, who has been preparing home grown meals and snacks for the children for more than 12 years. With a Greek style influence, her nutritious meals are prepared from a menu that is designed in conjunction with the families they are feeding. 

Some of the children’s favourite meals are Gogo’s Spaghetti Bolognaise, her winter pumpkin soup using her own home grown pumpkins, Greek lentil soup, Gogo’s homemade Greek style meatballs, and hand crumbed gluten free fish pieces. The centre is also affiliated with the NSW department of health’s Munch & Move program, teaching children the value of healthy food and physical activity.
