Acton Early Childhood Centre (AECC) is a community based long day care centre offering full time and part time care to staff and students at the ANU and to members of the general community. The centre has a long history having been in operation for over 35 years. The building in which the centre operates is of heritage interest and lends itself well to the homely environment which is so much a part of our vision and philosophy. The centre is licensed for up to 54 places each day, divided between three rooms- Kanookas (3-5 years), Sundews (2-3 years) and Billy Buttons (6 weeks to 2 years).
Full-time and part time care is available. Part-time care is defined as being up to and including four days a week. A full-time position provides care Monday to Friday.
Acton Early Childhood Centre is an ACT 3 Year Old Preschool Provider.

The staff are warm and welcoming, and that is also apparent in the beautiful relationships they have developed with my boys. The twins come home happy and exhausted after a great day. Cannot recommend more highly! A special mention of the outdoor play space - one of the nicest and biggest we have seen! Read more

In January 2012 the National Quality Framework (NQF) came into effect across Australia.
The purpose of the NQF is to improve and standardise the quality of child care through a
range of measures including better staff to child ratios, higher staff qualifications
and an assessment and rating system designed to promote continuous improvement.
Under the NQF child care services are assessed and rated against the National Quality Standards (NQS).
The NQS measures the quality of early childhood education and care in Australia. It will cover
most long day care, family day care, preschool/kindergarten and outside school hours care services.
Under these standards child care services will be assessed and rated against the
seven quality areas, 18 standards and 58 elements that make up the NQS.
