About the Curriculum
“Let the child be the scriptwriter, director and the actor in their own play” - Magda Gerber
Nursery Space: 6 weeks – 2 years
Learning starts from before birth, and our Educators have created a welcoming and nurturing nursery environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things - through their senses, their communication and cues (body language, facial expression and sounds) and by experimenting. On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of play, water play, music time, story time and more. Every day provides a brand new, exciting adventure for our babies to support their development, learning and wellbeing!
Toddler Space: 2 - 3 years
Our teachers and educators encourage the children to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This happens through carefully planned music, dance, games and reading experiences.
On any given day the Toddler children can be seen developing their numeracy by building a tower, sorting objects, pointing and identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games.
Children in our toddler space are encouraged to participate in group play. Group play is important as it helps our toddlers develop important social skills such as, turn taking, developing self confidence and emotional self regulation. Our team helps children through talking, planning and role modelling.
Kindergarten Space: 3 – 6 years
Kindergarten is a unique time for learning with peers and developing skills for later learning including confidence and curiosity, important skills for starting school. Our play-based program encourages active engagement in learning and supports a range of positive developmental outcomes including resilience, independence, critical thinking and creativity.
The oral language supports literacy learning. A child’s oral language ability is the best predictor for later success in learning to read and write. Hearing the sounds within a language is the first critical step for all literacy learning. Our team supports our Kindergarten children's development by engaging in rich discussions, introducing new vocabulary as part of everyday conversations, as well as singing, playing games, and reading with the children daily.
Throughout the Kindergarten year, children use their language to share ideas, ask questions, express themselves, and connect with peers and adults in social settings.
Social-emotional skills, including the ability to self-regulate emotions, is supported through group learning environments. Our team supports each child’s social and emotional development by labelling and talking about emotions and supporting appropriate responses as together, they engage in new and challenging situations. Lastly, ensuring that all children are ready for the ‘big school’ by preparing them for all that ‘big school’ has to offer.
Morning
Brianna is 11 months old and enjoys sensory play outside in the sandpit with her friends. She sits near her educator who helps teach her how to scoop the sand into the bucket. Brianna is learning how to dig, carry, and move the sand. She is also exploring texture and learning what happens to the sand when she adds water!
Lunch
Brianna has finished her lunch and is preparing to take a nap. Her educator changes her nappy, prepares a bottle and reads Brianna a story before her afternoon sleep.
Afternoon
Brianna and some of her nursery friends enjoy some story time and songs outside in the shaded garden. They read ‘Peepo’ which is Brianna’s favourite book.
Morning
Todd is two and a half years old and loves to start his day at the centre outside on the climbing equipment. His friends join him, and together they pretend to be pirates on a ship looking for treasure. Through this exciting dramatic play, Todd is learning about himself and the world around him. Dramatic play is helping Todd identify his interests, abilities, likes and dislikes.
Lunch
Todd is watering the vegetables in the garden. By doing this, Todd is learning the importance of growing and caring for the veggies in the garden. Todd picks a tomato from the garden, which the Chef will use to help make Todd and his friend’s lunch - Spaghetti Bolognese!
Afternoon
Todd enjoys art, and today he is painting a beach scene from a recent family holiday. He adds the finishing touches and sets the painting aside to dry; so that he can take it home to share with his family.
While painting, Todd is learning how to express himself creatively and how to convey his ideas and emotions. Painting is also helping develop Todd’s hand eye coordination, finger, wrist and hand strength. Making marks on paper is important for self expression as well as later learning.
Morning
Carly is almost five years old and can’t wait for today’s carpentry experience - she loves building things! Carpentry experiences allow Carly and her friends to extend their learning through real-life experiences. While participating in carpentry, Carly is learning to problem solve, experiment and predict. She is also improving her hand eye coordination, manipulative skills and muscular strength.
Lunch
Before Carly sits down for lunch with her friends and educators, Carly takes part in the centre’s sports program. Carly loves sports. Sports helps Carly improve her flexibility and strength (perfect for growing bodies!). Sports also allows her to practice different skills in a fun and engaging way.
Afternoon
Carly is off to ‘big school’ next year and she can't wait to start! Carly and her friends will be visiting the local primary school next week. In preparation for the visit, the class is creating a list of questions to ask the Principal and school children.
Health and Nutrition
Health and Nutrition
Our centre chef prepares and cooks healthy and nutritious meals daily, catering to the unique dietary requirements of every child. We believe that by encouraging active participation (such as growing their own fruit and vegetables, preparing, and finally cooking!) children learn to appreciate and understand the importance of healthy eating.
Our centre offers children nutrient-rich, unprocessed, and seasonal whole foods – created to delight the fussiest eaters.

Hi my name is Erin, and I am the Centre Manager here at Creative Garden Coombabah. For as long as I can remember my passion has been early childhood education. I hold a Diploma in children services and have continued throughout my now 20 years in the sector upskilling and adding to my professional development. I am currently studying an Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management.
Throughout my 20 years in the sector, I have learnt that every child is a unique individual that should be supported holistically and that when a child feels safe and secure, they will try new things and extend on their own interests and abilities enabling them to grow and learn at their own pace.
I believe that having passionate, dedicated, inspirational and nurturing educators is one of the most important part of a child’s learning journey. Our team is made up of dedicated and passionate staff who have been here for as long as 15 years. We are part of a large family community network that proudly supports each other and is a home away from home. I am passionate about ensuring that all educators at our service are supported and mentored to become the best they can be.
Early education provides inviting and warm spaces that inspires inquiry-based learning and provides children with a valuable start in life, building foundations for a good education
I believe that families are children’s first teachers. I am passionate about collaborating with families and involving families in decision making for their child and our Community at Creative Garden Coombabah.

I cannot recommend Creative Gardens Coombabah highly enough!! We moved from interstate to a different centre that was new and flashy, but couldn’t keep staff, didn’t give observations on my child’s progress and didn’t support him with his transition to a new centre, house and state until we said we were leaving. They would call constantly to pick him up as he was so distressed and they couldn’t help him. From my first visit, Erin and the team did everything they could to help us. They made me feel confident in that they would help and support my son with the nurturing he needed with so much change. The centre and the staff are inviting and friendly, they are supportive and helpful and have a lot of experience and knowledge. My son is now well settled and runs into daycare himself and the days of crying at drop off are over thanks to the amazing work and support of this team! I know that every day he is well fed, looked after, safe, learning and most importantly he is having fun! Erin and the team have created a wonderful and nurturing environment that I am happy to send my child to and I can go to work knowing he is well taken care of. My only regret is that I didn’t have my son in this centre from the beginning when we moved to the Gold Coast. Thank you team 🙏 Read more

Protect your children and do yourself a favour and never ever at this horrendous facility We enrolled our daughter in 2023. She went there for a couple of weeks. Every time we dropped her off a picked her up she was crying, the teachers would never nurture her. They never showed any interest in her. It would break our heart knowing she was at this horrible place. every time they uploaded photos she looks so unhappy and had tears in her eyes. The teachers would never cuddle her. They would never be there for her. My husband would pick her up in the afternoon and he would say she would be sitting on her own crying. She looked too scared to even talk and tell us about her day. She would look to see if she was allowed to talk she looked petrified of the teachers still to this day we drive past this daycare and it haunts us to our claw that we even allowed our daughter to go there. We had no other choice as we had just gone back to work. I’m so traumatised so is my partner two years later. It’s really affected us knowing that we left our daughter there. We feel like they failed as a parent because of how horrible the teachers were to her not to mention the facility is really old. It’s really dirty. The plates that they eat off with disgusting there is nothing nice about the facility but the main thing for us with the teachers they were horrendous. They should not hold a childcare license because There is nothing about them. That was okay. I don’t think that I’ll ever be okay from this!!!! I am beyond mortified that this facility is still allowed to operate I would never recommend, and I know several other parents who feel the same and remove their children!!!! Read more
