Council-run family day care since they were 2 years old. Our family day care educator, Deisi Petroli, has been like extended family, like a stand-in Mum to our kids. She acknowledges their passions and presents daily opportunities for them to explore their interests in her care. She cares about their nutrition, is respectful of following our requests with respect to their sleep and communicates very well about their feelings and experiences. She has been the best support a parent could hope for (and more!) We have also had experience with the Kangaroo St Manly Council Preschool. The director, Lisa Mansfield, and the teachers she employs, genuinely care about your children and meet them where they are at and support their development. I have shy but intelligent children and both FDC and Council Preschool were able to bring out the best in them and offered fun challenges every day. I paid more than double at a private preschool before I got into Kangaroo St and they were truly a babysitting service. Our experience with the 2 council-run services have far exceeded our private experience and they've helped our children to feel "seen" and to thrive. Their skills and interest have been nothing short of amazing for our kids and for peace of mind for our whole family.
