Curriculum and programs
Curriculum and programs
The educators at Goodstart Early Learning follow an evidence-based curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework. Informed by world-leading research, practices and techniques, the curriculum encourages the children’s natural curiosity and engages them in their learning journey.
As the children move through the different rooms in the centre, the curriculum evolves with them. The educators set goals for the children and celebrate as they reach their milestones. At every stage, the educators are tailoring the curriculum and goals to each child’s individual needs.
The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles. From child-led learning to sessions guided by educators, the children participate in small and large group sessions as well as individual play. Most importantly, the children learn through play, developing social skills, confidence and independence in addition to more formal academic skills.
Play is the order of the day of Goodstart Early Learning and the programs at the centre are grounded in a play-based approach. The educators embed teaching and learning into play experiences, helping the children to make sense of the world around them. This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills.
The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.
The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.
Parent communication and involvement
Parent communication and involvement
Goodstart Early Learning uses the StoryPark app to connect with parents throughout the day. The educators upload photos and stories to the secure app, which parents can access anytime and anywhere to track their child’s progress.
The approach at the centre is very much based around partnership between families and educators. The educators work with the parents and carers to build strong relationships. They develop trust so the children can feel safe and secure while at the centre. Parents are also encouraged to share their insights and feedback with educators to add depth to the relationship.
The educators observe the children every day and tailor the program around their observations. They share these with parents, so they can feel connected to their child’s progress and also provide feedback that will further enhance their child’s learning experience.

Shaheen Hulavale
Hi, I’m Shaheen Hulavale and I’m the Centre Director here at Goodstart Rowville - Stud Road.
I moved to Australia in 2013. I have a completed my Master’s in Clinical Research (Pharmacy) and have worked in different sectors of pharmacy for nine years.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Management and a Diploma in Children’s Services and Community Sector. I have been in the industry for eight years and have spent time working with all age groups and have been part of the leadership team for two years.
In my role as a Centre Director, I will have the opportunity to lead and empower a team of Educators to provide high quality learning outcomes for the children and a strong connection with families and community.
I strongly believe in the saying “It takes a village to raise a child” and hence strive to provide a home away from home environment for children and families which is safe and secured providing a strong sense of belonging to the children and the families.
We encourage children to learn at their own pace through play-based learning in high-quality educational programs and have opportunities to explore their environments to build strong social, language, and emotional skills.
I value parents as our children’s first teachers as my vision is to ensure that all our families and children feel secure and supported here at the centre A place where they feel safe, respected and supported and included socially and emotionally. Being a mum myself, I understand the importance for families to find a perfect place for their children where along with the children achieving their milestones can have their feedbacks and suggestions incorporated in the child’s development positively.
I love to connect with the wider community, families and learn about different cultures. We often incorporate this learning to educate our children and shape them into individuals who can contribute positively to the community. I feel fortunate to be a part of a great community where I can connect and collaborate with local businesses and schools for a purpose.
When I’m not in the centre, I love working out, going for walks or spending time with my family especially my two girls, most likely at the parks and beaches.
At Goodstart Rowville – Stud Road we have a very strong and dedicated team of Educators, and we strive to provide a safe, peaceful, and natural environment that engages children's five senses, provoking wonder, curiosity, and intellectual engagement.
I look forward to welcoming you and your family along with my highly educated and passionate Educators and would love to explore how we can support your child on their journey to lifelong learning.

Finding a good childcare center is one of the most challenging decisions for any parent. My daughter was very attached to us, and I couldn’t imagine her accepting being away from us and adjusting to a new environment. However, the staff at this center have been incredibly kind and patient, making the transition smooth. Now, my daughter eagerly goes to childcare every day and has built a great relationship with all the educators. The centre Director, Shaheen, was very supportive throughout this journey, giving us peace of mind. I highly recommend visiting this childcare if you are in the process of choosing one. We were extremely selective in our search, and now we are very happy and satisfied with our decision. Read more

I am extremely happy and relieved that my daughter is attending Goodstart Early Learning Rowville - Stud Road, particularly in the Nursery 2 room. My daughter's educator, Arezoo, has been absolutely amazing. She truly takes the time to understand my daughter's interests and ensures she has opportunities to pursue them. Arezoo is a very warm and caring person, and as a first-time mum, it's so important to me that my daughter feels loved and supported in her learning environment. I can see how much effort she puts into understanding and meeting the needs of the children, and I am grateful for that. There was a small concern when my daughter transitioned from Nursery 1 to Nursery 2, but I raised it with Shaheen, the center director. She is truly exceptional at her job, always approachable, and listens carefully to parents. She took the time to coordinate with the educators in the room and within one day, we saw improvements. Shaheen is always so dedicated and, even when she's in meetings, she ensures she checks in with parents waiting in the office to hear their concerns. I also want to express my thanks to all the other educators who have been part of my daughter’s journey, including Neelam, Aysooda, Mandeep, Jaismine, DilJahan, Kalyani, and Paula. They have all played an important role in supporting her growth and development in both Nursery 1 and 2. Overall, I feel truly blessed and happy that my daughter has such amazing educators like Arezoo and Shaheen guiding her. I highly recommend this center to any parent looking for a caring and professional early learning environment for their child. Read more

I can’t find the words to truly express how grateful I am to have reached out to Goodstart Early Learning on Stud Rd. From that very first phone call to the moment I walked in, it felt like I had found a home. I knew my children would be in the most caring and nurturing hands. Unfortunately, our previous daycare experience had not been the best, which made things quite difficult for my four-year-old. However, just two weeks into our time at Goodstart, I’ve seen such a positive change. They’ve settled in beautifully, and all the past anxieties have been eased by the genuine love and care they receive. Every morning, my children wake up excited to go to daycare, and it feels heartwarming to see them so enthusiastic. The atmosphere is so welcoming, and it truly feels like one big family. I also want to acknowledge the incredible progress my child, who has speech delays, has made we HAPPY I cannot thank the staff enough for their unwavering dedication and support. You have made such a difference in our lives, and for that, we are endlessly thankful. Read more
