Programs
Programs
Morphett Vale Childcare Centre celebrates child learning with tailored play-based programs guided by caring early learning professionals. The programs offer exciting and stimulating opportunities for children to grow in a nurturing environment.
Kindergarten Program
Led by university qualified teachers, the government approved kindergarten program supports children to gain the skills needed for a smooth transition to primary school, whilst nurturing creativity, independence and resilience.
Educators provide a stimulating range of activities that respond to children’s personal interests and learning styles, ensuring children can learn at their own pace and in their own way..
Kinder Garden/Bush Kindy Program
The centre actively connects with the local community and introduces children to the wonders of nature with an exciting Kinder Garden/Bush Kindy program. Children can learn about science and nature by exploring the local environment, tending to plants and growing their own food.
Children gather and play with natural materials, and also help with planting, mulching, weeding, harvesting and cooking. The program supports the development of enquiry, communication, problem solving, discovery and collaborative play.
Sustainability
In line with the mission of “Connecting the world for a brighter future”, the centre has a vibrant sustainability program. Research has shown that the earlier children are given opportunities to connect with nature, learn about the environment and their impact upon it, the more likely they will be environmentally responsible as adults. The centre embeds the sustainability policy through a range of educational programs and practices.
Meet the team
Meet the team
The passionate and highly qualified team at Morphett Vale Childcare Centre are dedicated to delivering enriching care and stimulating learning for every child.
All teachers and educators are fully qualified and experienced, with a broad knowledge of the childcare industry. To stay abreast of new developments, team members regularly participate in professional development opportunities and training. The team also regularly reflects on their knowledge and understanding of current theories and practices, and adjusts programs as needed to ensure every child is excited and eager to learn.
Mindful of the role it can play in supporting educators to deliver the highest standards of care, the centre also encourages students and trainees to complete practical placements within the service.
Parent communication and involvement
Parent communication and involvement
The centre values and celebrates the relationship, values, input, and culture each family brings to the service. It looks forward to developing meaningful and ongoing relationships with children, parents and carers, and the wider community.
To ensure educators have a full understanding of children’s needs, interests and learning stages, parents are welcome to chat to staff during drop off and pick up or at scheduled meetings.
The centre also keeps parents and families up to date with the handy Storypark App, which provides information on children’s activities and centre events.
About the curriculum
About the curriculum
The centre has developed a holistic curriculum in line with the Early Years Learning Framework and inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy. The play-based curriculum centres on engaging programs that help children take the first steps towards a lifetime of learning.
The Reggio Emilia Approach is an educational philosophy developed by a teacher, Loris Malaguzzi, and the parents of the villages around Reggio Emilia in Italy after World War II. It embeds the principles of respect, responsibility, and community into programs that provide children with the chance to explore and discover. Educators provide a supportive and enriching environment where children can learn by following their interests.
The curriculum brings together the interactions, experiences, activities, routines and events, either planned or unplanned that occur each day. Educators observe children in activities, compare, discuss and interpret observations together, and along with the children make choices about future activities for fun and learning. Children are encouraged to safely and securely explore their world, guided by teachers who share their sense of adventure and “amazement”.
The curriculum also celebrates diversity, with inclusive programs that aim to remove barriers and ensure every child feels welcome, accepted and part of the centre ‘family’.

Morning
In the morning, 14 month old Freya plays a game with colourful blocks. With the help of an educator, she sorts the blocks into the same shapes before using them to make a tall tower.
Lunch
Freya has a nap mid morning. An educator takes her outside to have lunch, and they count the clouds in the sky as they eat.
Afternoon
Freya wants to stay outside in the afternoon. She plays in the sand pit, creating sandcastles and enjoying the feeling of the sand between her fingers. The sand pit is a wonderful tool for creativity and sensory development.
Morning
Eric is 3 years old and he loves playing outside in the morning. With an educator's help, he is learning to ride a bike, building important balance and motor skills as he rides.
Lunch
Today, Eric and the other toddlers eat lunch outside under a shade sail. Afterwards, they help in the garden. Today they pick tomatoes which the chef will use in tomorrow’s lunch.
Afternoon
It’s music time this afternoon, which is Eric’s favourtie activity. Today the children listen to the guitar and Eric claps along.
Morning
Oskar is starting school next year and he’s keen to learn to write. He already knows how to write his name, and today he practices the other letters.
Lunch
After lunch Oskar and his friends learn about volcanoes. The educator has brought in a working model, which is very exciting.
Afternoon
Because the children loved the volcano, the educator decides that everyone can paint or draw a volcano this afternoon. Oskar loves painting and he makes a vibrant volcano artwork in red and orange.
