Gowrie Western Australia is a not-for-profit, community based organisation, founded in 1940 by her Excellency Lady Zara Gowrie, wife of the then Governor-General of Australia. The first Lady Gowrie Child Centre was located in Victoria Park, and although this centre has long gone, Gowrie continues to operate centres in Nedlands, Karawara, Kewdale and Leeming. We are proud of our history and our plans for teh future.
Located on level 6 of the QEII Medical Centre Carpark accessible off Winthrop Avenue (and Hospital Avenue), Gowrie Nedlands offers full-time, part-time, sessional and casual care to children aged 6 weeks to school aged. We are located on the campus of QEII Medical Centre, Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital and the Perth Children's Hospital. Our team of dedicated and passionate educators provide babies, toddlers and kindy aged children with a range of experiences that promote and scaffold lifelong learning. Our team builds on your child’s interests and expands their knowledge and development. During school holidays, Gowrie Nedlands operates fun and engaging school holiday programs for primary school aged children that incorporates incursions and excursions and a range of age and developmentally appropriate activities.
Our unique organisation, the oldest child care provider in Western Australia, offers more than just quality child care. We provide a platform for positive childhood memories that will stay with your child for many years to come. We embed sustainable practices in to our daily routines through worm farms, gardening, recycling, re-using and reducing waste. We provide programs such as Bounce and Bop (music and movement), Yoga for Youngsters, and Messy Play and we work tirelessly to ensure your child’s care and education remains paramount in everything we do. Our kindy and transition to school programs ensures your little learner is equipped with skills and abilities needed as they enter the formal schooling years. Children at Gowrie centres develop a sense of being, belonging and becoming.
