About the curriculum
About the curriculum
The Nursery Studio is a soft environment that caters for the development of infants from birth to 24 months. The Educators in this studio are dedicated to providing a safe and warm environment as infants begin to roll, crawl, stand, walk and balance. This is a Studio which places great emphasis on building strong relationships through dedicated one on one interactions through the daily 90 minute curriculum ritual.
Infants have the opportunity to explore both their indoor and outdoor environment that is full of greenery. They also have access to outdoor equipment that continues the development support throughout the whole curriculum. The Nursery is a calming room and feels very homey.
Transitioning through to the Toddler Studio children find that their senses become their development focus. Toddlers are always exploring and expressing curiosity with different materials and really enjoy getting their hands on new and exciting materials.
The Educators dedicate their 90 minute curriculum to creating experiences that enhance skills, finding resources that help children learn to manipulate and discover.
The Toddler Studio is a large environment that is full of different learning areas. Children explore areas for imagination, exploration, construction, literacy and numeracy, creative expression and of course somewhere to rest and recover in a nook of ambience.
The Junior Studio reflects social development. At this age, children genuinely begin to understand how important friendships are, and the behaviours upheld to build on those friendships. Junior children begin to understand fairness, respect and understanding in relation to other children and this is certainly something supported in this room.
This is done through creating collaborative environments and using curriculum time to ask open ended questions, allowing the children to reflect on their own development.
The Junior Studio environment is busy and full of resources to assist with children's individual development goals, which is the basis of the Educators planning. They create a planning cycle suited to each child so the children are being benefitted through their play.
The Pre-Kinder Studio is a much bigger and diverse space catering for children aged 3-5. In this Studio children's development is spread across many different platforms. Educators follow individual learning cycles with a focus on literacy, social behaviours, motor skill development, language skills and so much more.
The Studio is large and has an environment set up to cater for the needs and goals of every child. The doors are open all day to allow children to freely move between the indoor and outdoor program, this provides children with the autonomy to choose where they would like to learn and discover.
The outdoor environment is full of risk taking, climbing, high jumping, woodwork, and lots of loose parts to construct their own environments throughout their day.
Centre philosophy
Centre philosophy
Indoor-outdoor space - The centre's doors are always open and children can move freely between the indoors and outdoors.
Sustainability Program - By taking part in daily sustainable living practices including recycling, composting, worm farming, energy and water saving, the children develop a working understanding of how they can play a vital role in protecting the environment.
Community connections - By forging strong community ties they enable the children to develop a deep sense of belonging and connection to the world around them, construct an understanding of how society works, and begin to recognise and respect the shared values that unite us.
Technology focus - Technology is introduced through a play based approach. Educators role model and assist children to gain new knowledge and to better understand concepts through the designated computer programs.
Health & Nutrition
Health & Nutrition
The centre knows that children learn by doing, so they offer the children opportunities to take part in cooking classes as part of the curriculum.
Children are encouraged to help out where they can, whether that’s chopping fruit for smoothies or pouring them out for everyone.
Food is used as a way to teach children about identifying their needs and attending to them. Throughout the day, children can access drink stations and fruit bowls for a quick snack.
The children’s favourite meals and snacks at present are: taco cups, yoghurt bark, fruit sorbet, homemade jam and carbonara pasta.

As an Educator, I am so passionate about our industry and offering high quality care. Alongside this, I am also a mother to 5 beautiful girls ranging between 3 and 13, so I have a care and understanding for how daunting it can be to find the right Early Education Centre for you and your family.
I place the highest importance on creating meaningful and long-lasting relationships with our families, children and team. It is essential we all work alongside each other to develop the best plan and outcomes for your child during their learning journey.
Sarah, Centre Manager, Bluebird Early Learning Centre
We spend pretty much all day outside. Our doors are open all day and the kids go in and out.

Lunch
After a delicious lunch, the girls are ready for their nap. An educator takes them into the sleeping area and sits nearby while they nap.
Afternoon
Charlotte and Ally are looking forward to playing outside again. This time the educators have set up some water play for the nursery children. It’s fun to splash and play.

The educators have set up the easels for some outdoor painting, and Liam has a go at painting his own self-portrait.

Aria is almost four and loves helping the educators with the centre’s vegetable garden. Today she and her friend Kate have been weeding the herbs and collecting some basil for the chef to use in the pesto for lunch.
Lunch
Aria and the other pre-schoolers are going on an excursion today to a local park. They’re taking their lunch with them and having a teddy bear’s picnic.
Afternoon
Aria is ready for some quiet playtime now, and visits the home corner with her friend Kate to play schools. They set up the toys to be the students, while Kate and Aria are the teachers.
