Goodstart Early Learning Berrin

Play is the order of the day of Goodstart Early Learning and the programs at the centre are grounded in a play-based approach. The educators embed teaching and learning into play experiences, helping the children to make sense of the world around them. This is how the children learn about how things work and develop important foundational relationships and skills.

The primarily child-directed, play-based curriculum ensures that the children are engaged in their learning. They are encouraged to take the lead, developing their negotiation, risk taking, problem solving and social skills. The educators observe the children and help to challenge them by extending their learning and interests.

The educators recognise that every child is unique and that they bring their own needs, interests and strengths with them each day. The program is designed to be flexible to cater to these differing needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive at Goodstart.

Alison Tschirn

Hi there, my name is Alison Tschirn and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Berrin.

I am a mum to five children of my own, which has been an incredible experience full of learning and growth and I love spending time with them. As I have watched them grow, they’ve inspired my love for early years learning.

I have been fortunate to have been in the early years learning sector for over 8 years. For me, the early years of each child’s life is fundamentally important and I am passionate about supporting children to reach their full potential through high quality care and environments. My passion for leading practice has also led me to complete my Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood and undergo leadership training through Early Childhood Australia.

Throughout my time in the sector I have had the privilege of supporting families who are experiencing vulnerabilities across our community.  My aim is to lead our centre in providing an inclusive environment that promotes a sense of belonging for each child, family, and educator.

Goodstart Berrin values relationships as being central to each child’s wellbeing, building on children’s own interests and strengths, and scaffolding children’s learning. Our learning spaces promote children’s independence in a stimulating, nurturing and supportive environment.
