Programs
The educators at Milieu Early Education believe that it is important to expose children to many cognitive, physical and psychosocial experiences through extra-curricular activities. Some of the activities include:
Pre-K Program
The centre’s School Readiness Program is embedded into the daily curriculum for children aged 3-6 years old. The Pre-K children will also work on a Milieu School Readiness Book throughout the year.
Milieu Mini Chefs Program
This program assists children learn and practice some basic math concepts and build language skills. The experience of creating meals also helps build children's self-confidence and lays the foundation for healthy eating habits.
Milieu Garden & Sustainability Program
This program assists children with having an understanding of local flora and fauna, while also learning about sustainable practices within the care environment. The centre’s garden program involves tangible experiences, which teaches children to care for the environment in practical ways.
Milieu Language Program
The centre’s language program boosts problem-solving, critical-thinking, and listening skills, in addition to improving memory, concentration, and the ability to multitask. The second language that the children learn is selected by the families at the service.
Milieu Fundamentals
This fun and interactive sports program provides a safe and low pressure environment for children to first learn about sports. Little ones learn how to play cooperatively with others, while also learning multi-sport skills and movements.
Incursions and Excursions
Visitors to the centre and outside experiences are focussed on connecting children to nature and the community. These programs empower children to foster a love for all creatures great and small, show empathy towards all living things, and to care for one another. Some examples include visits to the local fire station or library, a chicken hatching program, bush kindy experiences, visits to the park, or trips to the local primary school.
