Gumnut Gardens is a small privately owned 46 place centre located near the Paddington Gates of Centennial Park. The centre is located in a lovely 1920s home which has a beautiful, calm, welcoming feel. We embed sustainable practices across our day and our programme. We practice respect towards each other, our resources, the creatures who share the earth with us, our planet and the Indigenous people of Australia whom we acknowledge as the traditional custodians of our land. We have a qualified chef who prepares all meals on site. We source paddock-to-plate meats, sustainably grown and transported food and provide organic fruit and vegetables where cost is not prohibitive.
We have a lovely, leafy outdoor environment where we also grow some of our own food. In our back garden we have a large tree house in a beautiful ancient tree. We are currently planning experiences which will take our children beyond our gate and into the local environment on a regular basis.
We have a wonderful team of dedicated and enthusiastic educators, including experienced Early Childhood Teachers. We believe that children learn best through play, which is observed and extended by thoughtful educators through offering support, provisions and conversation. We are expanding our philosophy to include the theories and practice of the Reggio Emilia schools, Bush schools and Rudolph Steiner and we record the children's development through observations, learning stories, photos and daily diaries using a web-based programme, called Storypark. We are a happy and connected family and we would love you and your child to join us.
