First Steps Early Learning Journey Centre overview
Welcome to First Steps Early Learning Journey
We are a family owned centre and unlike other childcare centres, which are owned by a corporation or investment firm, we’re not focused on profits. Our goal is to develop a relationship with each child and family and provide a personal touch to support each family.
We provide the children with fundamental skills for life through an urban farming approach. Each day the children tend to the vegetable garden, care for the rabbits, stick insects, turtles and give their food scraps to the chickens. The children often help make pizza dough or pesto pasta using basil from the garden.
We have an expansive outdoor yard with vegetable and herb gardens, water play, sandpits, boat and much more.
We have studios that cater for children from 6 weeks to school age, with a qualified kindergarten teacher for our 3 and 4 year old children.
We value children's learning and have a separate art studio & garden classroom, cooking classroom and family library to support literacy at home. We support children's wellbeing with little sports hero's every fortnight.

Took my little one for a swim sesh and spotted bruises on his arms. Not bonza at all. The teachers? Crikey, they're a rowdy lot, always yelling at the kiddos. And the tucker - it's all cold grub! Not what you'd expect for your nipper. Fair dinkum, I thought we'd get top-notch care, but this is just ridgy-didge terrible. Wouldn't recommend this joint to anyone. We're off to find a better place, where they treat ankle-biters right. Read more

No one ever answers the phone or email, poor management from top to end. Do yourself a favour DO NOT put your kid in their care. Read more
Dear Catinlove, Thank you for expressing your views, we take feedback as an opportunity to respond and communicate further to help us understand what we need to do to improve. I apologise if you have a child in care that you feel you cannot speak to us directly, and we do not accept any form of bullying towards any person part of our First Steps Community, including our hard working educators. We at First Steps take children’s safety very seriously and is at the forefront of our philosophy. All of our educators undertake training prior to commencing in order to adequately provide care for our children. We ask you to politely remove your review as we have not received either a voicemail with your name or number in order for us to rectify these mistakes nor have we received an email from yourself and if there were we would respond within appropriate business hours. If there is anything we can fix please kindly email info@firststepselj.com.au outlining your concerns or give us a phone call and we can work together in order to strengthen our communication.
